So has anyone put their name down for anything yet? I know a few of us policed the walk yesterday but I'm thinking further ahead now. Does anyone have the events list for 2009? I'm wondering if there is anything on next Sunday? Martin

Oh the choices to make. If i pass my initial what is the expected time frame for the rest of the process? So many questions, any help would be great.

Hi, i'd encourage everyone here to sign up to become ex-directory, imagine arresting someone and them then being able to get your mobile number through a simple internet search! http://www.118800.co.uk what a nightmare.

Ive had a scan through the vast forums and i cant quite find the answers to my questions! Speed reading sucks i realise this. Anyway, just to put you in the picture, i applied for strathclyde back in...septemberish last year, and passed the SET's second time, and got to the first interview. I received a letter saying i wasnt going to be given an appointment a while after the interview, and naturally i was fairly gutted. At the time i was 18 and a half, and all i have really ever wanted to do since childhood, is be a policeman! Now im 19, 20 in February, and im due to apply again. I dont have a clue why i never made it the first time, and they wouldnt tell me, no matter h…

Whilst I'm taking nothing to do with organising the latest night out lol, I'll happily organise a trip up to Perth for some adrenaline packed fun I've rafted the River Tay before as has Kenny (or was it the Tummel Kenny?) and the Tay was pretty tame (i.e. no real chance of falling out of the raft). We're both keen to raft the Orchy (real chance of falling out lol) but from the website (Splash are very good http://rafting.co.uk/index.html) you can only get some fun October to March only, so that's out. I'd be keen to try the Tummel which you can do from June 6th onwards. This is to gauge interest so please indicate if this is something you're up for: *Rafting River Tum…

I'm guessing we're all in the same boat in that our body armour stinks to high Heaven! I swear I repulse myself when I wear it!!! I've washed the cover once, hung it out on the washing line countless time (soaked in fabreeze I might add) and still...still the smell of glue or whatever it is penetrates through!! Has anyone eradicated the waft? Martin

I know the police reimburse you for the boots which you have to buy. Ihave also seen on here people buying extra equipment like a better cs holder, asp and maglite. Doest this get reimbursed? The other thing on my mind is all the websites have these kit bags surely with a locker at work you would not need a kit bag all the time or are you equired to put your kit on at the station rather get ready at home? Thanks In Advance Essex Police Applicant
