Is there a way to access the intranet and the internal vacancies when not on a GMP site? Whilst on training I've seen a couple of positions I'd like to apply for but don't want to be stuck at Sedgley whilst applying if I can help it.

Hello all, I would just like to ask for some advice as regards to the assessment/interview stage, I have recently applied to GMP and have received an invitation to take part in the assessment. I have also applied to Lancashire Constabulary in which I attended the assessment and was successful however I had to withdraw my application following the good news from GMP (the force in which I wish to proceed with) Just wanting some advice if anybody can help! Hi, Currently going through the recruitment process and have my fitness test in the new year followed by the medical. I'm a keen rugby player, in shape, and though not bulky - I have a quite a bit of muscle mass. As I am only 5' 9'', this is puttng my BMI in the 32-33 range. Is it a strict no if BMI is over 30 even if my body fat is low? Thanks

I have just had my fitness test last week and I was quite worried regarding it as I did not do too much running or even jogging. I was a little nervous as the girl that I was running beside was into rowing/running, she has a coach and trained six times a week! I just got me head down and kept up with her and before I knew it the test was over. No warnings, no missed beeps and it was finished. So happy that I done it. Q - Is the push/pull part of the medical or is is that part separate?

I have been invited to the assessment day in three weeks time and I thought that this forum would be a good place to gather information, also seek advice and converse with other like-minded individuals. I have been thinking of applying for the specials for quite some time now as I feel that this is a very worthy cause to volunteer my time to. Any advice on the tests or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. I have documentation on a fictional shopping centre that was also included in my e mail that I had recieved. Does everyone get this or are there different scenarios? Thanks.

Hi, my training starts in Nov on condition that I pass my medical. Can you guys give me an insight into the medical? The email just says eyesight, hearing and urine sample for drug and health screening, is that all the medical is? I heard they do lung capacity test but that's not on the email. Thanks. I actually made the grade overall with 59% but I didn't score highly enough in the 'Working with Others' competency. I got 44% and needed 50. I am gutted :new_cry: I will try again next January.

Hi I was offered a conditional contract to be a pcso in the GMP. I had completed my, assessments, interviews, medical, vetting everything! I missed the earlier intake and was told I will defiantly start training in march! march came and went then I received the dreaded email that due to funding they will let me know in 6 months, this is due around September, I phone recruitment frequently and they say they have heard nothing and it is down to command and they are keeping quiet. has anyone heard any news or wispers or is anyone in the same boat? So, there has been a lot of talk recently about the Devolution of Manchester. Part of the extra powers and responsibilities the new Mayor will get is to do with policing affectivley taking over the PCC. I visited the GMP website last week and is said they are looking at recruiting 50 new student officers over the next 3 years but will not be giving any more information about it until March 2016. Looking again today that announcement has been taken down and replaced with:- 'Quote' Recruitment during 2014/15 has focused on filling Student Officer roles from GMP's PCSOs, Special Constables and other Police Staff.
