I am looking in to the possibilty of applying for a position as a SC but I am curious about when/where you get posted if you pass all of your assessments/training. I still have to convince my wife on this but I am not sure of the wisdom of being a Police Officer of any form in the area in which you live. Are you normally posted away from your own town or can you choose where to go? Thanks in advance.

Just thought i would share some exciting news with you all, as most of you are aware i start training this Sunday and by the look of the way that my training schedule looks i think it may be completely different to those who trained last year, at the beginning of every class we are tested and have to achieve a 65% pass mark which proves that we have done our pre-read homework and that there is sufficient knowledge on the topics being covered. As well as the tests there is a lot more practical scenarios so you get a hands on feel. I am excited but nervous as i was at Hq last Friday and collected my pre-reads which was a big book. If it is ok with the Moderators of the f…

Why do we have so many ranks within Essex Specials? George Cook (former Chief Officer) created a huge empire, but surely this needs to be reviewed?

Come on give us an update on how you are getting on as some have been in service for over a year now and have not posted on this board for a long time. Once my training is completed i plan to still come on here and post various topics etc.. If you are stationed with someone who used to use this board give them a nudge and ask them to let the rest of us know how they are finding it...

For serving officers who haven't already heard, Essex Police will soon be issuing black, wicking, polo shirts to officers instead of the standard white shirts. These will be rolling out in the next 16-20 weeks and are the same shirts as Kent Police currently wear.
