I hope we all had a very good Christmas and a Fantastic New Year... I was wondering as BTP SC's, are we issued with a FOLDER/PORTFOLIO after our initial 8/9 weekend training to guide us complete all necessary tasks in order to obtain our Independent Patrol status? Can anyone advice please...

Is it possible to be a BTP SC and retain a job on the doors? Does anyone know of any SCs who do this? I know that the website lists it under " Occupations where eligibility to be appointed as special constables are to be carefully scrutinised by the Chief Officer ".

Hello, Would someone in the know be able to assist me please? Im a serving SC with a home office force Im IPS signed off and a basic ticket driver, Im looking though to transfer if poss. to the BTP North London Sector covering the West Coast ML out of Euston based at Milton Keynes/Bletchley or Coventry/Birmingham. My question is do the BTP allow straight transfers from force to force subject to interview and medical/references etc. Or do you have to apply as a off the street applicant? As a result of a discussion between myself and a serving PC, I can't resist but to ask; Is there a difference in vetting levels between SC's and PC? ie. are PC's vetted to a higher level than SC's? Your reponse to this would be highly appreciated. Potious...

Hello, i know this can be a touchy subject as people sometimes come across as if they want thier answer's written for them, but please trust these are not my intention's at all. I was curious if anybody who has recently completed and passed the compentency based question's would be kind enought to provide me with an example answer as even though i have the experience to answer the question's, i would like to be sure that i am responding in the correct way, as i would hate to fail for not laying out my responce correctly even though the content may be fine. I've looked everywhere (or so it seems) for more information about the medical examination, sadly my quest for more info has failed... Can anyone tell me what the doctor does in this examination, what tests will I have to do? tvm

I've always wanted to join Lothian and Borders police but recently i've started to really like the idea of the btp so im thinking of applying to be a special. Im just wondering if this will have any impact on any future applications to a different force ie Lothian and Borders Police or would i be better off applying to be a special for lbp and then thinking about the btp? As some of you may know, I am waiting for the next London North recruitment and through the website I can not access the application forms until they are actually recruiting. I am thinking of downloading the current application form available for North Eastern so I can get an idea of what it is like and start planning some answers. Does anyone know if a standard application form is used throughout BTP? Or are the London North and North Eastern forms going to be completely different? Many Thanks, Ash
