Just curious how much people do over the Christmas period. Do you take the opportunity to get some hours in, or avoid it all together? I generally do no duties over Christmas, but due to this years circumstances i am doing quite a few, including Christmas day. Would be interested to hear how everyone else uses their time Ollie

Here in the US I've noticed that a lot more gang bangers have started buying and wearing Body Armour. When I was with 19 we often came across criminals wearing it on jobs, now with e-bay etc making it easier to obtain has any of you come across any crims or for that matter MOP's wearing it?

You will note at the start of the video he makes a comment to a bus driver to knock some riders off their bikes. He seems quite aggressive in general and then a passing inspector has a word with him and does not look happy! Would the passing inspector be able to reprimand/give orders off duty? And what do you think of the PCSO actions?

High i am looking for a list of all the force identifiers the two digit codes that are on the roofs of police vehicles (e.g. met police 01, CO19 02, i dont know any others apart from sussex which is 47?) Can anyone help point me towards a list of them all? Chris

How long does it usually take for a special to be in a position where they are able to go out on 'independant patrol'?

Ok not naming forces or what not but I have a question that someone may have some sort of answer to because its annoying me now. If you are in one force but move area so you need to transfer but when starting this process you fail vetting with the new force at the last stage but you have just left your last force as you unable to drive all that way to do your shifts anymore. If the new force have said they can't tell you why you have failed what do you do then? As when you have written them a letter they still say no and they wont tell you why What then if you try to go back to your old force because you love to help out and will drive the distance if you have too rath…

On Road Wars today Gareth the dog handler detained but did not arrest a guy he was chasing. It's the first time I've seen anyone do that. I know this issue has been mentioned before on various topics.

Hi can you all just clarify if or not section 2a of PACE applied to Security/Door supervisors in the execution of there duty within the premises where there remit stands? Or weather searching within the security industry has to be purely voluntary? Thanks

As a special do you have to book your shifts or can you just turn up as you please as long as you do they minimum 8 hours a month?

Good morning! I have just started the long application process to become a SC in Gloucester. In the meantime I am nosing through the forum picking up bits of information! The question is in the title.....what hours / shifts do you usually work as a Special? If I do get through the recruitment process and become a SC, I think I would like to try and mix and match, some mornings, evenings and nights. Also...do you generally work a full 8 hour shift or do, say, 4 hour shifts? Cheers Martin

off duty would you use your warrant card to assist in a situation or even arrest someone or would you leave it and just report it? if you seen an officer struggling with somone and they was single crewed would you help

Just wondered, How many on here choose to work in another force area to the one they live? 1) Why? 2) How long does it take you to travel? 3) How long did it take you to feel comfortable in a different town/area? I ask because I am aware that most forces pitch the Special Constabulary at people who wish to help their LOCAL community, however I'm also aware that many people do not wish to work on their own doorsteps.
