Right guys... I traded in my car at a dealership on 14/10/2010, with road fund licence running to 31/10/2010. I then posted section 9 of the V5c as required to DVLA Swansea either the next day/day after (I forget which). Today I have had a fine for £80 come through for not taxing the car?! Obviously I am not simply going to pay this fine - I would imagine the form was 'lost in post'. I have appealed the decision on the back of the letter where indicated but alas cannot prove I posted it as it went first class! Does anybody have any experience of this sort of thing with the DVLA? Hi all, I have been looking on ebay for a personal defence spray that is legal in uk there are a few like stoppared uv & TIW Farbgel, which are ok as they dont have any chemicals & will not incapacitate However i have come accross one called KO jet spray upon looking at the item description its a pepper spray see link http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item45f828d35a It says item location UK i was expecting to see USA can they sell this on ebay ? The draconian cuts this year will mean a few things. One. Most Forces doing massive recruitment drives in the Specials to supplement the Regulars. Two. Specials being given more responsibility and autonomy as there will be less Regulars to work alongside them (City of London already has this, not sure about other Forces). Three. Special Constabularies following Merseyside's example and reverting to Regular shoulder insignia in a cynical attempt to hide the depleted stock of full time officers from the public. The NPIA IL4SC Quick Notes book dropped through my letterbox yesterday morning and I was wondering how far this book has been distributed and what people thought of it. My copy is Issue 1.02 dated October 2010 and there are a few points that have sprung out at me that could have been improved upon; 1) There is no introduction or explanation of the purpose of the Quick Notes 2) The Quick Notes appear to be a selection of sections from a much bigger structured document though there is no explanation of what that bigger document is and where the other parts can be found. 3) Some of the sections contain references to other sections which are not in the book. 4) The major…

Hi all! After reading through several similar posts around this board and others, I have decided to post few questions. The main theme I found with these posts was that the RAFP started going down hill, in the past few years (from 2007 til 2010) lots of posts started saying the RAFP was changing for the better and better opportunity for specialisms as well as more exciting role was developing. Hello all, I was talking to my friend (who wants to join the army) and we got talking about reserved occupations. I think that there are still certain occupations which mean you cannot be conscripted into the army (if this even happens anymore). Is a Police Officer one of these? And is a Special one of these? On fiver now. CCTV Cities - in the CCTV control rooms going and insight into what they do and how they aid the police in doing their jobs. Presented by Donald MacIntyre I think its a good insight into how real things are on the stereo these days and shows exactly what the police etc are up against

How times have changed. In Lothian and Borders it was a strict requirement that you always wore your hat whenever dealing with the public. It always gave you the authority and also stopped your mates recognising you on duty. Now it seems very few response officers wear their hats. I do see foot patrols around London still wearing their helmets. Anyone do the same.?

Something I have been thinking about... Should the use of social networking sites be monitored for all serving officers or is this an infringement of thier rights. One of your very good friends that you have added on a social network site ,has a sector target added as thier friend in a joint account with thier girlfriend who is not known. They have access to all of your work colleagues comments etc and one slip could mean big trouble. You assume your buddy has no idea they ever been in trouble with the police but are unsure how they are known to them.Perhaps the gf is the actual friend and you are very close and she happens to date that sector target. Hello, Just a random unimportant question, something I've been curious about. When you identify yourself as a police officer to a MoP either in person or on the phone, in uniform or not (or even on duty or not if the situation ever arose), what do you call yourself? (This is aimed a specials.) SC Jones? PC Jones? Constable Jones? I'd assume SC Jones is correct, but does it cause confusion? Hi, Just got a few questions if someone wouldn't mind answering. When you issue a s27, I understand you have to call up and create a CAD if one has not been created but what details do you have to give control from the s27? If I issue a s27 to someone and ask to create a CAD, what would my next step be? Would I just give them the persons details and how long I have defined them to leave the area for and ask to have CCTV on him/her? Cheers
