So as you may be aware the new laws bought in about a month or so ago introducing tougher penalties for using a mobile phone at the wheel have caused some confusion, there have been several posts in the news that say that using your phone at a drive through can land you with a fine and points... I believe this to be true as I believe it is classified as a public road/place given the implied right of access to the public, it's a drive thru - and that's it's sole intention. Others seem less sure, some suggesting it is on private land and therefore it's a civil matter, assuming the likes of McDonalds etc even want to make a fuss over it, in reality, they wouldn't. …

Am I right in thinking, that unlike a life sentence, a hospital order has no minimum tariff? Is there any mechanism for ensuring that someone who has committed a life threatening attack on someone isn't released in a few months because they behave normally in the controlled environment of a hospital? If they are released and start to have troublesome behaviour are there any processes for putting them back inside?

Hello, I'm a 17 year old guy dating a 15 year old girl and my friend told me that she is too young to date me. I'm not intending to have any sexual relations with her until she turns 16 and is consent of it. While she is 15 the only physical contact I intend to have is hugging and kissing, I didn't kiss her yet, for now we just hug every now and then. She told me this is wrong in the eyes of the law. I'm quite a literal person generaly, certain when it comes to the law,a thing is either legal or its not and I act accordingly , I endeavour never to break the law and on the rare occasion's laziness' or unfortunate circumstances take over then I am as a law breaker am prepared to be punished. There is a pub that has a sign outside, to the effect of: 'Representatives of Sky, BTSport are denied entry without prior appointment, by the order of Landlord.' A question that I have heard asked is, is that sign legally binding? If they were to enter, I'm guessing he can order them to leave; but if they were to find he was streaming something to his TVs, what would he/she be able to do with that information?

The local town centre has a particular problem with troublesome parking blocking a pavement on a busy road, it is also a bend so driver's visibility is limited. The thing is that bits they park on are the entrances to the old bus station which is boarded up. This is frequently forcing people to walk into the road to get around them. Whilst there is a pavement on the other side of the road at that point, there isn't further up, and it is the end of a long road with no junctions. you tube has a fair number of vids of the police and pcso using S50 in rather dubious circumstances. In the last couple of weeks I have witnessed it twice in person and thought I would raise them for comment on here. firstly I was down by the canal doing some exercises. ( sit ups with a feet on a concrete bench) when two chaps arrived and sat on the adjoining bench. It's regarding my partner who suffers from mental health issues and how I was locked up for nine hours, I want the entire matter removing from any record they have as it's insulting and unfair. I was sentenced to home detention curfew and released straight but my landlord has refused that I can have any of that installed as it's shared accomodation I don't have anywhere else to go but as of the moment looking for a suitable address so should go back to the police station and hand myself in or what should I do

Apologies if I come across as stupid but could someone clarify for me the following: officers effect an arrest and the necessity for which was to prevent harm to others and prevent damage to property. This complies with S24 Pace, code G etc S37 Pace dictates a custody officers powers to detain without a warrant for amongst other things, in order to investigate the offence. I know the situation would be rare that officers wouldn't need to interview but if officers have arrested to prevent harm etc then how can a custody continue to detain the suspect under S37 if he can only do so to further investigate the offence? thoughts?

Need some advice on a police harrassment order i was served 2 years ago...can anyone help ?

I know someone who witnessed a stabbing who has now been told that they are not needed as a witness as the defendant has pleaded guilty, but not to attempted murder. They have been told that the person's intent will be decided at a sentencing hearing. I'm confused by this. It was very clearly a pre-meditated attack, and a serious one. The witness in in no doubt that it was attempted murder. But surely if the witness has been told there will be no trial, a sentencing hearing can't decide it is attempted murder. Or am I missing something? Is it possible that they are having a sentencing hearing and could decide then that there needs to be a trial for attempted murder? …
