I have the interview/written/role play with the Met in the middle of June and am very excited. Now for a typical interview I would obviously go properly suited, probably with a tie. I want to just check that this is what is expected? I have a little niggle that they may expect you to dress casual, especially as a role play is included. It wont be hard giving an answer to this post, but thanks in advance anyway

hi guys! i've got my first assessment for the specials (with the met) on saturday i was just reading through the paperwork and saw that some legal drugs give a positive test on the drug test  i took paracetamol and codeine the other day for a headache - its totally legal you can get it in any pharmacy without a prescription even! but i did some reading and its based on the same drug as heroin so can give a positive result do they do the drugs test on the first day? they say they're going to test competencies etc on the first assessment day, but it also says in the info that it can be done at any stage during the recruitment process. i dont wanna turn up on sa…

Been waiting for security checks to go through but got a letter today saying" Thank you for pursuing your application to join Gloucestershire Constabulary. Unfortunately, after careful consideration your application has been unsuccessful. Therefore we are unable to progress your application any further. May i take this opportunity to thank you for the interest you have shown in Gloucestershire Special Constabulary." And thats all it said. Im totally gutted. Had my uniform fitting next thursday and was really excited but now thats it. Cant believe i failed the vetting. I have not been in trouble with the police since i was 15 and that was just spraying my name o…

Hi! I was just wondering if you apply to become a PC and fall down at any stage then do you have to wait a year to apply to become a special or can you apply sooner than that? I am trying to apply for LBP but if I am unsuccessful then I will be moving to Oxfordshire and would want to become a special within TVP. Cheers

I was thinking about becoming a Special before applying for the regulars, to get me a good taste of police work whilst still at college. I was wondering as it's not outlined on the Tayside Police website, what's the minimum age for applying and being accepted as a special? If i'm a special, does that give me any advantages when going to apply for regulars? Is it a good idea? Thanks, Robbie.

You know when you start the training, I was just wondering which day it's normally done on? It's just that I might have a new full time job soon and I'd be working on Saturdays, and if/when I start the training I'll have to ask my new boss if I can miss Saturdays for 12 weeks or however long it usually is! He probably wouldn't be happy he employed me, ha. So... do you get to choose between Saturday and Sunday or is it a set, inflexible time for everyone?

Hi guys just wondered if anybody else is going through the application process with Norfolk. I am currently working my way through the appplication form and have noticed that it does not ask any criteria based questions like the regular application. Just wondered if this would apply to the interview as well? in such much as it won`t be criteria based. I have spoken to Specials at my local station and have subsequently been for a ride along which was very interesting and informative, they were not however up to date on the application process due to their lenght of service. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

This might sound like I'm fretting a bit, but when they ask me to tell them about "a time when you displayed... (such and such a competency)" how detailed should I be? Should I say "well I did this" or should I natter on about some long story involving that competency? Which do they prefer? Do they want to hear the details about how I acted or do they just want a general short answer? Thanks!

Hey guys, have started revision again for specials as i have been given a new date, 8th May. I failed the PIRT last time due to my speed of answering the maths and data checking exercises (i took my time ensuring i didn't make any silly mistakes and didn't realise there was such a cruel time limit!) Does anyone know if you can buy a book or find online any data checking exercises and spelling tests? This came as abit of a suprise as no books i have mentioned a data checking exercise and id like to work on this as part of my revision. Have just ordered 2 books for the PIRT but nowhere seems to do one specifically for the specials as the recruitment process is somewhat …
