I saw someone in plain clothes driving a marked police vehicle but in the back he had 2 or 3 kids (around 5-10 years old) which looked like his own children and he was taking them on an outing in the police car? Surely this isn't allowed. Don't you have to check out a police car for duty purposes only or something?

Hi guys What do you think is more effective the Met's current ford transit or the one's that BTP and the counties tend to use. Personally I hope the Met gets on the band wagon and purchases the smaller vans..or the pixies haha

My force operate a lot of GPVs, and these don't have sirens, but do have blue lights. Any other forces use marked vehicles without sirens? A lot of MOPs are surprised when they learn the vehicles we use don't have sirens. Just curious!

I was wondering if anyone has an answer to why some POLICE bonnet markings are in reverse and others are read left to right. I know they're in reverse so they can be read correctly in a mirror, but I thought there would be a standard where they'd all have to be one way or another. This is plainly just out of curiosity and there might not be an answer

I thought I'd start a generic topic for sirens (for the uber geeks) :new_shades: I'll start with a question - something that's been bugging me for years! Does anyone know what siren this is? 1:25 onwards From 0:00 to 0:07 [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMz2XVIHbDc It definitely not the usual "Whelan" siren that seems to have spread nationally. I've always referred to it as "The Met Siren."

I recently came across a Freedom Of Information (FOI) website where details of vehicles have been disclosed by multiple police forces and are regularly updated. It was whilst reading through some of the fleet lists I realised just how many BMWs The Met has ranging from 3 Series to X5s. I can understand the specialist role X5s have to play however in a modern police force facing budget cuts is it feasible for The Met and other forces to have so many vehicles such as BMW 3 and 5 series when other vehicles could do a similar job at presumably a lower cost (correct me if I'm wrong)? Other vehicles mentioned include ATVs, can't imagine why The Met need them and my largely ru…

Hi Am I right in thinking the big blue thing on top of this van is a really big beacon? If so, what's the point of it being so big? Surely if it's just for visibility they could have just used more of the smaller ones together (ie a lightbar). Cheers!

What's the current minimum driving age for driving A-B vehicles in the Specials? I would have thought if it was commercial insurance, it would be 24/25.

Hey All, Saw something a bit strange today, not far from "Hendon" , a telehandler and two diggers with flashing blue lights fitted and an unmarked audi , also running blues, escorting the plant, being driven up the dual carriageway near brent cross... Anyone got any ideas what these are used for/ where they might be going...fairly new addition i imagine?
