Chief Inspector Sacked Over Work-Phone Allegations A Chief Inspector has been dismissed for gross misconduct following allegations he used his work phone to download internet porn and exchange inappropriate texts with women. Mark Brew (47) was also alleged to have made a junior officer drive down all the way from Merseyside to pick him up in London following a conference. The Merseyside Police officer, who worked with the force’s Matrix team, was dismissed for gross misconduct and now has two weeks to appeal the decision, a spokesman told PoliceOracle.com. However theoretically he could still appeal at a later date, he added. The force said in a statement: “Merseys…

http://www.south-wal...-special-chief/ Mr Dale Cartwright has been appointed as the new Specials Chief Officer for South Wales Police, leading the force’s Special Constabulary as they support regular police officers to fight crime. Dale took up appointment on 1st January 2012 as the successor of Mrs Sue Bowes-Evans, who served as Chief Commandant for 11 years before retiring from a staggering 37-year career with South Wales Police. When 25-year-old Dale isn’t in force, you’ll find him practising medicine in his day job as a trainee doctor. Theft From Force: Staff Member Guilty A member of staff with the Met and his wife will have to wait until next month to discover their fate after both admitted allegations relating to theft of force property. Southwark Crown Court was told how Mr Bowers had taken electrical items including iPods, satnav systems and mobile phones – some of which contained personal data. The offences took place between January 2009 and December last year – both defendants have admitted that…

source ; http://www.guardian....t-time-to-think I just wonder if any sort of plan or scheme arises from this advice, how exactly would it work? I would of thought every officer reflects upon their days' work pretty deeply. You often hear many officers admit how difficult and emotionally stessful and draining thier job or how proud they are of thier daily triumphs and how they have helped.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17690404 '...defendants have been asked to enter guilty or not guilty pleas without seeing all the evidence against them.' Just an idea, but couldn't they just enter a guilty or not guilty plea depending on whether or not they thought they'd committed the crime? Or maybe I'm not yet cynical enough to be a defence lawyer.

A chief constable has sought to reassure the public that police were not being taken off the beat and replaced with community support officers. David Crompton, Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, told the police authority meeting in Barnsley that reports of proposals to rebrand PCSOs were a "storm in a teacup". http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/police-chief-offers-pcso-assurance Keep re-branding, only seems to cost more money the Police not have.

The mental health of some former police officers has been "severely affected" by compulsory retirement, an ex-Devon and Cornwall Police inspector has said. Norman Amey said the use of regulation A19, which forcibly retired those who had served 30 years, had "disempowered" some as young as 48. The force implemented A19 in a bid to save £47m over the next four years. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-17712886 If retired Officers win this, where will the savings be?
