You may have seen the BBC reporting that the Home Office has published its report on private investigators. Think it has nothing to do with you? Think again! One recommendation is that NO police officer may become a PI (employed or otherwise) for ONE YEAR after retirement. That means when you're A19'd, they don't want you to use your skills in the private sector, either. That means: The Home Office think we're all bent because a (very) few of us have been. The Home Office doesn't feel the same about journalists. Oddly, they want PIs and the Police to work more closely - but not for 12 months? Nothing like it applies to Home Office staff who award immigration-related …

http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201213/cmselect/cmhaff/100/100.pdf If I have read this right, our government have attacked our Police yet again. I think they are saying all Coppers are bent, or at best untrustworthy.

Violent clashes took place on the streets of Belfast last night following an Orange Order parade which resulted in a number of police officers being left injured. The loyal order march through the Ardoyne sectarian interface was peaceful but trouble flared when there was a clash with rival Republicans as crowds of several hundred confronted lines of riot police. Fireworks, petrol bombs, stones, bricks and bottles were hurled at police lines and a burning silver BMW driven at officers in the residential neighbourhood of red-brick terraced houses. More than 20 police officers were injured during the trouble which flared last night after a group of Orangemen marched past th…

The UK's armed forces are on standby to provide an additional 3,500 troops to help with security at the 2012 London Olympics, the BBC has learned. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18804547 Turns out, and what a surprise it is, G4S are not up to the job. So Army/Police come in to take over. What else are G4S not up to? Keeping crime down? How about walking the streets without having to call Police for every minor problem? Maybe they can arrest people? OOps nope they can`t, just a waste of time. A very #AntiWinsorNetwork to them. #PoliceForThePublic, #PublicForThePolice #MayOut

Hi folks , new member (of public) just joined . I see in the ' none police news section ' a thread on Olympic security but thought I'd drop this here for discussion / review / action. Just bumped into it on the net. I think this journalist is still inside, but sounds as if it's a bit of a shambles from within on the security organisational front. The journalist commented that perhaps the UK Police should oversee the private security staff, as team leaders . Sounds like someone needs to get hold of things by the scruff of the neck and see what is going on. But this journalist , being trained as a security guard , is rightly concerned. Anyhow , perhaps some on her…

How a conman fooled 3,000 Twitter fans, three lovers and the police- The Times Inspector Winter was the darling of the police social media scene. At the height of last summer’s riots, he tweeted and blogged about his experiences on the front line — comforting people who had been burnt out of their businesses in Tottenham, arresting suspected rioters in dawn raids and drinking tea with bedraggled fellow officers in rescue centres. His fan base of more than 3,000 Twitter followers included police and the media, and he was even commissioned by The Daily Telegraph to write a first-person piece that described the “chaos” of policing the riots. The only problem was that Insp…

Anger at huge wage bill for suspended cops COPS raked in almost £5MILLION in pay while suspended from work, figures reveal. Scots forces paid out the huge sum to 170 officers under investigation for misconduct in the past five years. They include Central Scotland assistant chief constable John Mauger who remains in his £150,000-a-year job 24 months after being suspended over allegations of bullying. Lothian and Borders chief inspector Allison Strachan — suspended in 2010 and fined £400 in April for illegally accessing police files — still picked up her £80,000 a year salary until she quit last month. And a PC at Strathclyde Police — which topped the spendin…

Mr Maclean, a gunsmith, added: ‘The girl was a cracker, but it wasn’t worth getting a £60 fine for.’ However, he claimed that it was ‘a matter of opinion’ whether his actions were dangerous, saying: ‘I would argue that I can do two things at once and am an experienced driver. They would argue that they’re keeping death off the road.’ Like making a phone call and driving? or like texting and driving? or applying make up while driving? or one of the multitude of other things that, when done while driving, could land you with a ticket... Also, since when is driving without due care an NEFPN?! (I know there was plans to introduce them, but i'm pretty sure the consultation h…
