Cheeky Glasgow cops pictured parking on double yellow lines as they grab evening coffee Jul 25 2012 Police officers grab a coffee after parking their van on double yellow lines IN every US cop drama, the police need a coffee and a doughnut when they’re on a stakeout. But these thirsty Glasgow officers were so desperate for their COPpuccino that they parked on a double yellow before picking up their order. Customers in Starbucks in West Nile Street thought they were witnessing a major incident when a police wagon drew up outside the coffee shop and parked on double yellow lines, and a team of officers emerged on Tuesday night. But the only emergency was their need …

Let's vent, amigos! Apparently Bob Diamond's bonus in 2010 was £6.5 million. Let's hope he's not spent it all. He can pay my bleeping pension, seeing as HMG want to take it away to pay RBS bonuses.

http://www.telegraph...in-bonuses.html what a load of codswallop, the same excuses trotted out each time, ''necessary to pay bonuses or they might be tempted to leave and go into the city for more pay''. Just let them go, there are plenty of able people who could do their jobs without needing a bonus, and there are very few jobs in the city for them to go to. That million pounds could have been spent on hospitals or other worthy causes, not the back pockets of top civil servants.

http://www.policeoracle.com/news/Crime/2012/Jul/29/Officers-Stopped-Violent-Burglary-In-Progress_51900.html Firstly, congratulations to the officers who attended and apprehended these criminals, good result. Now I would like to ask a couple of questions. Please do not start the whole "we should all carry guns" argument  The first question is the crime committed, is that actually a burglary? Given that the victim knew one of the gang it is reasonable to assume that he opened the door to what he thought was one person, to be faced by others carrying illegal firearms. Surely that is an armed home invasion? The second question, obviously, is the use of deadly force …

There are now 134,101 in England and Wales — the lowest figure since 2003. It follows a fall of just over 5,000 last year and 4,625 the year before. Home Office figures reveal there are now 14,393 police community support officers — down nine per cent. The number of backroom staff, such as secretaries, fell by almost nine per cent to just under 67,500. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4456775/Drop-in-cops-with-numbers-down-by-10000-since-election.html "Police numbers cut by 10,000 already & Population rises 7%. Why does Govt give policing such. Low priority? = 20% cut" Paul Mkceever I wonder how many Officer will be forced out after Olympics ar…

A man threw petrol over a patrolling PCSO “who was simply doing his job” – before he threatened to set him ablaze, Merseyside Police have said. The force has confirmed that the staff member and a colleague had approached a group of men with a quad bike who were “acting suspiciously” in the Halewood area. James Patrick Jones (19) then threw petrol over the PCSO and made a threat to set him on fire, it was claimed. Officers attended the scene and arrested two men.
