From the Police Oracle - http://www.policeora...heap_51167.html Huge rises in the ranks of specials in England and Wales have not been prompted by gaps left by dramatic losses in regular officer numbers, chief officers have said. Sir Peter Fahy (pictured), ACPO Lead on the Special Constabulary, denied that boosting volunteer officer numbers was “policing on the cheap”. In its Policing in Austerity report HM Inspectorate of Constabulary said forces plan to increase the number of specials in England and Wales from 15,500 to 24,500 between March 2010 and March 2015 – a rise of 58 per cent. This comes at the same time as forces plan to reduce the number of front line off…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/news/9415413/Unions-warned-by-Norman-Lamb-not-to-disupt-Olympics-with-industrial-action-or-face-anti-strike-laws.html I am sure that the PCS Union will be shaking in it's boots worrying about what Flashman Dave will do about their strike threat. I am not a great lover of most unions, but HMG has cut the Border Agency by 30%, knowing that the Olympics would be happening this year, then HMG complains that there are not enough on duty at any one time. Lawyers say that banning the Border Guards from striking would be against their 'human rights', what about Police Officers 'human rights'. This government of Tory 'toffs' is …

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2177489/Cherie-won-Games-boasts-Blair-Former-PM-says-wife-played-big-winning-IOC-members.html Teflon Blair talks more rubbish than there is in my local tip. The man is so full of himself and hubristic, he really believes he is God's Gift to the world. I am surprised they didn't use Ms Blairs mouth as a car park, it's big enough. These people love themselves so much, if they had 'love bites', they would be self inflicted.

From Reuters Seriously, firearms licensing in the hands of a private company. Given the record of private companies and data theft and the selling on of data, not to mention the already ineptitude of those who oversee firearms licences already, I think that my gun room may need thicker doors

Going to be interesting how this will impact the policing of games going forward, not to mention the budget impact for the force. Anyone know if other forces may be impacted as well? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-18965193

Private companies will be running large parts of the police service within five years, according to security firm head http://www.guardian....e-privatisation No more 999, call G4S in an emergency, they can call 999. #AntiWinsorNetwork http://www.getsurrey...e_privatisation SIX in 10 people would be less likely to report a crime if they knew that a private company was in charge of their personal data, a survey has revealed. Plans to outsource more police work to the private sector have not been handled well, the Home Affairs Committee has said. http://www.publicservice.co.uk/news_story.asp?id=19887 Commons committee slams West Midlands Police 'partnership' plan …

Firstly I think the entire thing is rubbish, these people should have been found guilty for their crimes instead are now walking free, yes a Jury has found them not guilty but that doesn't mean they didn't do it - manslaughter, death by dangerous - either way. Regarding Slasher Sims, he shouldn't resign but should learn from this debacle, he's the figurehead of the organisation and the one people will want rid of and want to topple to try and strive for change - he'll get the blame because he failed to supervise, right or wrong - that's what'll happen. My gut feeling is the CPS shouldn't have pressed ahead for murder, and should have considered manslaughter or death by …
