More than 10 per cent of the Lincolnshire Police civilian staff who went over to G4S look set to lose their jobs. http://policeoracle.com/news/Police+Finance/2012/Jun/16/Private-Partnership-G4S-Announces-Redundancies_49923.html I have no confidence in G4S. They are there to create wealth from people`s misfortune and misery. It is far worse then rubbernecking. Putting my feelings to one side, that picture above, best say nothing more, I will get myself warned/banned. :furious3:

Was anyone else at the passing out parade yesterday at Hendon? If not it was a unique day, 18 officers fainted during the parade. It was bizarre we were standing to attention for about 25 mins then all of a sudden people all round just started dropping like flies! This pretty much summed up our time at Hendon though to be fair. Shame about all the bad press though. Here's some photos. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2166636/Rookie-police-officers-drop-like-flies-stand-attention-PASSING-OUT-parade.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Cumbria Police is looking to close a number of police station front desks to save money. The force needs to save £20.3m by 2016 due to government cuts. It said a survey found that people preferred to make contact by telephone http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-18341447 Up here in our quiet backwater this is causing much discussion. Is this pretty much being proposed everywhere and does it really make a difference if we can't speak to our local police face to face and have to use the phone or other methods to contact?

http://www.policeoracle.com/news/Met-Holds-'Largest-Ever'-Passing-Out-Parade_50676.html Bit surprised by Boris's comment Mayor Boris Johnson echoed the chief officer’s sentiment: "It is vital to invest in the Met police. I'm glad we have given so many Special Constables and PCSOs the opportunity to become fully warranted police officers,” he added Thought we already where is it different for MET POL?

Boris does have that effect on women! Rookie police officers drop like flies as they stand to attention at PASSING OUT parade Metropolitan Police breaks record for number of recruits in a Passing Out Parade as 567 new officers are welcomed to the force Excitement too much for some as many pass out or collapse during ceremony After months of rigorous training to prepare them for the tough world of policing it is only to be expected that the MET's new recruits would be excited at finally making the grade in their Passing Out Parade. But it appeared the ceremony, and the attendance of London's mayor Boris Johnson, was all a bit too much for some of the young new …

The Ministry of Justice says that handsets smuggled into jails are being used by offenders to harass victims, organise gangs and deal drugs on the outside. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/mobile-phones/9365741/Prisons-to-be-given-mobile-phone-jamming-devices.html Considering some of the horrors in the article, bit surprised this has taken so long to be introduced.

Well, after nearly a year, the Grauniad/LSE have published the second part of their research into the riots which focuses on the policing side of things- just been looking through, and they actually seem to be quite pro-police in places. So anyway, was wondering what you all make of it http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/series/reading-the-riots < All the reports are on there- saves me linking 6-7 stories
