An officer has been dismissed from Surrey Police after its first public gross misconduct hearing. PC David Sherritt, 49, of Aldershot, was convicted in August of two charges relating to the harassment of his wife. He had sent a "high number" of unwanted text messages and made offensive comments on social media after the breakdown of their marriage. The fast-track gross misconduct hearing on Friday was told his conduct had "fallen below the expected standard". As well as convictions related to harassment and offensive communication, Mr Sherritt breached his bail conditions and was remanded in custody for four days, police said. Following the convictions, he received…

A police marksman who was removed from his job because he was partially deaf amid concerns he could have confused 'shoot' with 'don't shoot' has won a disability discrimination payout. http://dailym.ai/1GjEBov Firstly I do apologise for the source but couldn't find the story in BBC site. As for the story itself whilst I can see the tabloids having a field day with it, I'm pleased to see he won. No I haven't gone soft and swallowed the political correct pill :-) It's just I too have been subject to this awful hearing test that the Home Office recommend for the last 15 years. I have always hated it and old age isn't helping. But on a serious note I have absolutely no …

A police force of 1,780 officers and support staff was the subject of more than 1,000 public complaints in a year, figures show. Here's the full article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3264247/Police-force-1-780-staff-1-032-complaints.html The astonishing thing from the article as that the force receives 150 complaints of sexual assault every year. I suspect that the vast majority of these particular complaints are completely bogus and consequently I have trouble believing that all 1,032 allegations are even worthy of investigation.
