The article does not mention it yet, but this relates to the robbery at Menzies World Cargo which netted the thieves £1.75m, which has never been recovered. This case has collapsed three times at the Old Bailey. The Court of Appeal has ruled that a trial can take place without a jury for the first time in England and Wales. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, made legal history by agreeing to allow the trial to be heard by a judge only. The case concerns four men accused of an armed robbery at Heathrow Airport in February 2004. This will be the fourth trial concerning the alleged crime. The judge made the ruling following concerns of alleged jury "tampering". BB…

Cocaine users have nowhere to hide in West Cumbria thanks to a new high-tech tool being launched by Police to help in the fight to rid the streets of illegal drugs. Ten cocaine torches have been distributed to Neighbourhood Policing Teams and drug squads across the area which will help officers identify users. The torches work by identifying traces of cocaine on the skin and when shined on faces or hands will expose anyone who has been sniffing or handling the drug by highlighting it in green. Anyone who is suspected of using the drug will be searched by officers and prosecuted if necessary. Superintendant Andy Towler, said: “These new torches will have a big impac…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...man-rights.html Civil rights group Liberty is backing the relatives of two convicted killers who claim their human rights have been breached - after police used the criminals' faces in a poster campaign. We have become a litigious nation, anything to make an easy buck, let`s hope they lose this one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...lway-light.html Here is yet another strange story Religious row as Orthodox Jewish couple sue neighbours for 'imprisoning' them with automatic hallway light. A driver in Suffolk has been fined £60 for speeding by a bogus police officer. The man was driving on London Road in Brandon at 0300 BST on Friday when he was stopped by a grey Ford Mondeo with a blue light on the front grill. The Mondeo driver, who was wearing dark jeans, a light T-shirt and a dark jacket, said he was a police officer. He told the man he had stopped him because he was speeding and asked for £60 to cover the fine. He drove off when he was given the money. Police have issued drivers with advice on how to tell if a police officer is genuine. A spokeswoman said a police officer stopping a vehicle in an unmarked car would produce his or her warrant…

. The current test excludes a lot candidates for a number of jobs, including the police. Realistically, their condition as no impact on there ability whatsoever, but the current test is very unspecific and people get excluded. Hopefully it should now be more fairer http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8103302.stm

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2432170.ece A POLICE chief is risking jail by threatening to defy a court order to hand back a mass of suspected paedophile images seized by cops. Questions must be, why would a court want these videos/images in the public sector, seems reasonable to me that they be destroyed. Secondly, well done this Officer!! :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy:
