Can anyone tell me if WMP use the Ishihara (Colour Perception) test during their recruitment or do they use a different style such as the City University test? I can't seem to find it anywhere on their website. Thanks!

Last year I applied for the 50 PCSO jobs, got through to the final interview but was told due to the high standard of candidates my application would be put on hold, and depending on if there was funding available I would be offered a place on another intake. End of February I was told there was funding available and I've been going through medicals/security vetting etc for a place on a May training course. I was supposed to hear at the beginning of this month if I'd passed or not but haven't heard anything. I was just wondering how long vetting usually takes and if anyone else is in the same boat? The training should start in just over 3 weeks time so I think they're cut…

As we have a few new members who are starting their careers with WMP as Police Community support officers, here a space for you all to chat and stuff. House rules: Keep it tidy

From Coventry Police on Facebook: Coventry Police 4 mins · THANK YOU: Please join us in saying a big well done to the amazing Sam Beckett. Sam is a special constable – a member of the public who serves as a volunteer police officer – giving up his own time to keep the streets of Coventry safe. SC Beckett was nominated for the Special Constable of the Year Award at West Midlands Police’s Diamond Awards last week by a teenager who was thinking about becoming a special. Sam took the lad out on patrol with him to give the boy a taste of life on the beat. A couple of hours with Sam was all he needed to realise he did want to join the force, as he explained in th…

A place for all of our lovely new recruits, once they have started their enjoyable time at Tally Ho! to come together and ask questions etc. Hopefully some of us "old sweats" might be able to help from time to time

Hello, As some of you know I'm currently undergoing my Specials training. Joining the Regulars is something I'd like to do eventually. I'm a single Mum of two with no family here (from up north originally) My ex and ex mother in law are the closest I've got who could probably help out to an extent. My question is what is a 'typical' shift pattern for a Regular? Just trying to see whether it would be feasible for me to join the Regs eventually?

Just wondering what it's like policing in the Coventry area? And do you ever work with the BTP from the Coventry station? Maybe joint operations on football match days? Or any other operations? Thanks.

I know regulars recruitment has been opened but wondered if anybody knew if or when specials recruitment would be open again? I've looked on the website and can't find anything about specials recruitment so I'm assuming they've closed specials recruitment in order to recruit regulars. Thanks, becky

Sounds like West Midlands Police are gearing up for a recruitment drive. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-24744649 I wonder how the guys and girls stuck in limbo will fall in to this plan. Will they have to apply all over again or will old applications be honoured subject to re-vetting?

I just got my letter throught the post about recruitment....if you havent got yours yet I apologise for being the bearer of bad news. On the 4th Feb the PCC will announce recruitment will start in april 2014. For those that were in the process previously we will need to start again, no promises have been kept, its back to the start. assesments only last two years and therefore we are all out of date. If im honest i would have been happier if they had told me that in the start instead of saying they would keep the scores indefinitely. So there will be an online process at the begining of april or we can register our interest when the recruitment site goes live in April. …

Evening all, Question for those SCs over in the other LPU's, What SC teams are there throughout the force? I am also aware of the CMPG team, Airport team and the safer travel crew. I've heard romour's of a SC Traffic team that's been set up but wasn't advertised anywhere (that I saw anyway), I've also seen recently that there is a SC football support team on one LPU but I am unsure of their role. Did anything come off the CID or gang unit they where setting up? Anything else I am missing? Teams : SC Airport team SC Safer travel team SC Taxi team SC football support team SC Traffic team SC CMPG team

So according to the HR update 7th jan its states they expect a high level of interest in recruitment as its been 4 years since they last recruited and they need younger officers and officers from BME communities. They also hope by recruiting they will bring in a high calibre of candidates? So do you think this means its all starting from scratch?! Anyone heard from recruitment about those of us in the freeze?? weve been sacked off havent we!
