Hi guys Can anyone shed light on what we are going to need on our first training weekend? Are we issued our uniform or do we need to bring a change of clothes? Pens, paper? Etc. Thanks and looking forward to meeting you all

Just thought i’d pop in and say how nice it was that so many specials marched at Brighton Pride today. Including one chap who was only attested yesterday. Anyone on here go? Either marching, policing or just watching?

Hi Everyone, Well its been sometime since i have posted on here, well to tell you the truth i havent logged on here for a while. I hope that everybody is doing well out on division or at PDU, I have heard on the grapevine that a few of our class has resigned................Im sad to say that i was forced to resign. As you would have all been aware i was going through a horrible divorce (something i have to add that i never hid and was open about it from my interview stage and right through training). I have been told to reapply again in 6 months. Well i hope that everyone else is doing ok.

On a trip to Brighton yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice that there were several MET officers in MET uniform patrolling the streets around Brighton Train Station, one of the officers was from as far afield as Haringey! (in north London) I was wondering why this was and is this common?

Not sure if this is the same with every force but in our special training these are some of the acronyms we have been taught - GOWISELY - Grounds for search, Object searching for, Warrant, Identification, Station you are from, Entitlement to copy of search record, Legislation, You are being detained for a search. (Burglary - Section 10) WIFE - Weapon, Imitation, Firearm, Explosive (PNB's) E rasures - Dont do them! If you make a mistake, line through it an initial! L eaves torn out - Dont do it! All the pages are numbered B lank Spaces - Rule off a line to the end of the line you are writing on O verwriting - Dont do it! W riting between lines - Dont do it! S tat…

Can anyone tell me when Sussex will be recruiting again? Regulars and Specials please / thank you

With the current news regarding Police Bail reviews and possible resourcing issues for arrests, wouldn't it be a great opportunity to enlist the help of some Specials with dedicated tasking to undertake such arrests as deemed necessary by regional supervisors? This seems an ideal opportunity for senior supervision to utilise a considerable free resource to help with a short term problem. It's just an idea!

Ok so I have made it through to the assessment centre and have a few questions: 1. Does this mean they have done the vetting? 2.I live in bexhill and my nearest specials station is 5 miles in Hastings is that (if I get through) where I likely to be based? 3. Will having no driving lisence effect anything (important one) Thanks in advance, Simon.

Hi all... I was an active member of this site some years ago. As my workload is about to ease, I am once again considering joining the Specials. This time in Sussex (or maybe Surrey, as I'm right on the border) but having looked at the website it says that they're not currently taking applications for Specials. Does anyone know when things will repoen? Also, where are interviews etc held? Thanks

Hello all. Im writing this topic simply because Im nosy . Im a special in the met currently and have been for about a year, but I grew up in Worthing and did consider joining Sussex for a while. I have had a slightly negative opinion of police in Sussex, but im more understanding now I do the same job (They took all my alcohol off me and stopped me from sneaking to Tesco's at lunch in school haha). Is it a busy area to work in? Would you say PCSO's do most foot patrol's etc ... it was always quite a rare sight to see coppers on the street (normally only when something has happened) ...

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/law-and-order/police_custody_suites_in_sussex_are_ranked_good_in_inspection_report_1_2742727 Police custody suites in Sussex are ‘good’ with well trained staff, according to a report. HM Inspectorate of Prisons visited Sussex Police’s custody suites in February. Their joint report found the force provides good strategic leadership and has solid support from Sussex Police Authority. It has also made significant long term investment in its custody suites and the staff are well trained and motivated. There are excellent management information systems in place with sound learning from any adverse incidents, the report says. But i…
