Hi, I want too become a rozzer when I'm done with uni. But in the mean time I would like to become a special in Sussex, I tried to call the number given on the web site but it redirects you...to the exact same number. Any way my query is; when may the next intake of specials in Sussex be? from what I've read on here there was one quite recently? ANNND also could anyone suggest a number/email to contact? As you may have guessed from the title of this post after a year long wait I FINALLY passed my medical today (despite managing to be so nervous in the hearing test that I was getting a bit too trigger happy above my tummy rumbling and heart pounding). I didn't realise I would have to go through all of it again but somehow managed it! They offered me a spot on the August course but unfortunately the first weekend is probably the only weekend this year I couldnt make so it's January 2012 course here we come! Well one year later after my deferred medical and here we are again keeping everything crossed that the chat I have with the nurse and Force doctor go ok and that maybe just maybe I have the possibility of getting on a training course in the near future. Guys I've seen the local officers now using community resolution forms as punishment for shop theft. Can anyone shed any info on them and what sort of other offences they are used to resolve? Also, are they used nationwide or are they just piloting them as i have never seen it before!

Hi I am quite curios to find out what you guys do for day jobs on top of being Special Constables. (for those of you who want to share that info on here!) At the moment I am working as a manager in a supermarket but am considering making some adjustments in the near future to help me concentrate a bit more time on gaining IP once I start. Obviously I will have to weigh up the financial implications of this but if there's anyone who has done that perhaps you could share info and experience? Thanks guys!

Does anybody know how SLAUGHAM is pronounced? I have always pronounced it as "SLAUFFAM" Others I hear refer to it as "SLAFFAM" and one or two say " SLOWHAM" Anybody know the correct pronounciation?, or would anyone else like to make an educated guess? For those that have heard the news you will know that the MET have ended their recruitment freeze and are going to recruit again. So i phoned up MET recruitment (on a special number i found on the met forum) and ending the recruitment freeze will only apply to INTERNAL applicants who have already passed a day 1 and 2 assesment. Despite expalining to them that i had already passed both day 1/2 for the MET, and it was them that dropped my app not me, and that i was a serving special for over 4 years with Sussex Police they said that the new recruitment drive wouldnt apply to me. Hi, Please could someone "in the know" clarify for me the uniform requirement for Safety Training Phase 2 for specials? My understanding is that I will need to attend in my operational uniform, and common sense dictates that I will need to bring my utility belt. What I am unsure about is where the line is drawn. Are training days such as this considered "on duty" and if so are we expected to pop to our station on route and kit up fully including PAVA, stabvest etc? You may find it useful to print off the first aid powerpoint on your discs in weekend 4 to bring along with you this weekend for you to make any notes on you wish. Those of you who were with Glynis and I for law last weekend, remember to bring in your statements to hand in for marking. Remember your Pocket Note Books.
