Hi, A friend of mine had sent an application in to Northants for the Specials. She was wondering how long does it normally take to get confirmation of passing the paper sift? Do they still do the ride alongs as part of the application process? Thanks Spanky

Are we shooting yourselves in the foot, well those who want to be PCs in the future by working all the hours god sends or falling over ourselves in response to the texts and emails from the resourcing people to man XYZ events or taskings? If you put it this way say XY event needs 6 officers, force aren't able to resource PCs so they asked for SCs. SCs sign up and event XY goes ahead. If the SCs didn't sign up the force would have to resource officers from somewhere. Ive got a way out suggestion, so top brass look away now........ As alot of you will already know getting to monthly training isnt easy sometimes, well most of the time if you work variable shifts etc. My suggestion why cant the training be sent to us all via email ? At present it more or less if you cant make it well never mind your lose, there isnt any email package to look through etc. Well if there is I dont get it ! Also could we have a session on paperwork or more to the point a Step by Step guide to XY&Z forms and where they go after they've been completed. There is nothing worse than having to ask a PC every 30 seconds 'where does this go now' or 'what do …

Howdy, My friend has got through the paper sift and now has the interview and fitness test. I noted that the fitness test includes a grip strength test, is this still the case if so anyone know what the pass is for this test? At TVP I had the bleep test and the push and pull but no grip test, so cannot advise my friend. Cheers Spanky

Hi all, its easy for us to take for granted our Emergency services. Our family had to call out the ambulance service last night for our daughter, who had a cracking 39.7c temp and trouble breathing (yes the dreaded Croup). The car got here in no time at all, then the ambulance wasn't far after. The professionalism of the guys and girls is top notch; even though they had done a 16 hour shift the previous day. They took us to KGH, into resus and got her onto the path to recovery. With the super care of Dolphin ward, we were discharged at about noon today. I know this isn't a police specials thread really, but I thought it showed to me how members of the public rely on th…
