Hey all Just a quick question out of sheer curiosity, when do Cambs specials get fitted for uniform? I've got my final medical next week so I'm assuming some time after that or is it done at the start of training?

can specials go out on duty with the dog section? how is it arranged? *edit for clarity*

Hello everyone, I have recently been given my date for Cambs Police' 'In-House' Regulars Interview and was hoping some people on here would have some tips and assistance on topics to revise, what it involves (over and above just Presentation and Short Interview) and any other help?? This is the Interview that previously was after Ryton, but now has been out before Ryton as they found that more people passed at Ryton who had passed the other stages this far. Again, thank you in advance. PM me if you'd prefer. timtim

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum although I have been following it for a while. I've applied to be a special and have been accepted to an assessment day. I'm feeling confident that I should make the grade. Fit as a fiddle and have already got strong ties to police community with my work in TETRA and Airwave. My only issue is that getting to Monks wood is going to be pretty difficult for me. I live at the top of Arbury on the A14 but my car is currently off the road of a while. I've looked into travel but the best I seem to be able to find is the busway to Huntingdon. Still another 6-7 miles to Monks Wood from there! Any advice or help that anyone can give me would be gre…

Hey all, I have recently sent off my application for the 2013/2014 Regular Intake, I was wondering if anybody who has experience could shed some detailed light on the Assessment Centre at HQ as there's limited info on the website. I've seen topics about Specials Assessment Centre but not Regs, so I apoligise in advance if this has been covered. Mainly just what it entails, and if there is any revision or preparation I could do. I appreciate I have to get through the paper sift first however I'm just looking ahead. :D Mitch

A change in finance policy has occurred, that's fine it happens, there is now a flat rate for subsistence payout if you work 5-10 hours (leaving your front door to walking back in it). It would be inappropriate to discuss exact numbers here but imagine my surprise when this months expense sheet shows that I shall get the same for a 14 hour shift as a 5 hour shift, when we used to get some money for working over 5 hours and more for working over 10. Needless to say, feeling a little hard done by. Rant over.

Interested in what Cambridge specials get up too. Are you crewed with regulars on response or are you kept for Snt type stuff? Also, how does your training work for new specials? Are you given a regular tutor to work with on response or are you sort of left to crack on yourself? Reason I ask is I'm interested in moving over from Herts. I'm not signed off as FIP so it's a case of leaving and rejoining. I've been with Herts just over 2 years and have covered loads but the support to getting me signed off has been appalling and still waiting to find out how as the training plan changed and no-one has been that great with helping! Would be interested to know how spec…

Hi all, I recently submitted an application to cambs! 19th January it all had to be in, as most of you know. I was wondering whether they will go through internal applications first before moving on to others or does it not matter? My application still says under review whereas I know some have heard and already had an initial assessment centre. I'm currently in another force, next door neighbours to cambs, and had thought maybe they recruit alike, as my force gets all internal apps out the way first. I failed my assessment centre in June by 1% so as you can imagine, I'm feeling pretty nervous and really want to succeed this time, as my current role sucks! Any feed…

Cambs now operate a 1 day assessment centre for entry to the special constabulary. this involves the Police initial recruitment test (PIRT),the Job related fitness test, and an interview. assessment centres will be held at force HQ bi-monthly.

Hello! I applied to be an SC back in March, and I've been short-listed and invited to attend the Assessment Centre at Monks Wood, Abbots, in a couple of weeks' time. I was wondering if anyone could give me any general help/advice as to what to expect. I'm 18 and that all-important half, so I'm worried everyone will have lots more experience... Thanks!

Hi there, Just a quick one, I can't seem to find the postal address for Copse Court in Peterborough. I have to attend an assessment centre there in a weeks time and can't find the postcode! Help!? Mitch

Hi All, Sorry if this seems like a bit of a silly question. I am wanting to apply as a Special Constable(like i have for a while now), the only problem I have is the getting out to monks wood for the training(which i read somewhere is held at Monks Wood). I live in Arbury(CB4) part in Cambridge, and I don't drive. So does anyone know what the best and easiest way to be able to get out to monks wood? I have put off applying as a Special for a while mainly because of this reason, I know i'm able to get to Cambridgeshire Constabulary HQ either by getting the train, or using the Guided Bus way as it goes out to Huntingdon, but at the moment that is as far as i can work ou…
