Ambulance Service

Hello, I was just looking at my count's recruitment page and noticed they are no longer recruiting for retained Fire Fighters but are now asking for 'On Call' fire fighters to work between 30 and 60hrs per week. Does anyone on here know any more about this? Does this offer a guaranteed 30hrs per week work or is that just something that can/could be required of you? Obviously I have a full time role as well as an SC so just wanted to be sure what I had to give up and hopefully speak with someone who has been down this route. Thanks in advance Alex.

I know that services police use Blue lights but are what other parts of the HM Forces are permitted to use them, I know theres at least one group but for the life of me I can't think of it

many years ago almost every large factory and faciltiy had there own fire service which also often operated a first response ambulance- I know most will have been disbanded but if anyone has any info please feel free to post here

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this and why? In the link below i saw the van driving through streets "weaving" through traffic. It then approached a set of red lights to which it slowed down and proceeded through. From the front there wasn't any blue lights, but from the back there was two tiny blue strobes on the upper near and offside. There was no siren on the vehicle (or they didn't put it on) Why would the salvation army need a response unit which travels on blue lights? Just wondering if anyone knows what the structure is for the healthcare services in the UK? ie First Aider - Paramedic - Nurse - Doctor etc Have looked online and can't seem to find anything that shows a structure.

howdo guys and girls, just wondering if we have any RNLI crew etc... here. I've been involved with the RNLI for 10 years and currently going thought B Class Helmsman Training to qualify me to command the lifeboat on a shout. I am also on the RNLI Flood Rescue Team and i was involved with the Cockermouth floods a few years back. Anyone here been assisted by the RNLI either as part of a incident or had to be rescued? I was just curious, after spending half my day watching Helicopter Heroes on Dave, what legal reason is there that air ambulances have to be touched down at base half an hour after sundown?
