Just a quick topic to say well done to the 3 RNLI Lifeguards at Tenby who saved 40 persons from a sandbank Well done Also do people think there should be an increase in the Lifeguards to other beaches or is this moving away from the founding role of the RNLI?

Hello, hello! Anyone from the HMPS around? I don't suppose you could tell us what it's really like? Is it more like Porridge? Or Oz? I think I'd quite enjoy to go for a prison officer job if I worked on my people skills a bit. Perhaps I'm being more than a little naive, but it seems like a job that in certain conditions lets you do some real good for people's lives. I mean, if you think about it, alot of people in prison have never known anything other than hate and pain all their lives, so prison has the potential to be a safe environment where you can show them there is another way! But then of course, you will always get people who keep coming back again, presumab…

Out of interest, How on earth do you land a job with HMRC? As far as I'm aware they have never recruited for anything other than VAT inspectors/tax collectors. How does one go about becoming an actual customs officers based at a port/airport, equally do HMRC still have a dedicated investigation unit? or have their duties been taken over the UK Border Force? I got a book yesterday in WHSmiths called Kilo17 (it was £8 I got it for £1.50 on some crazy book deal they have on at the minute!) Its about a guy that joins up with the Customs & Excise investigation division (basically their version of CID) anyway I'm already half way through it, its a really good read for a…

Hi, I've had a look around the web, and the scottish ambulance website but I couldn't find any information on this. Does anyone know what the different levels of driver are within the Scottish Ambulance Service, what the training is, and what the pre requisites are for Ambulance Care Assistant-Urgent Tier and Ambulance Technician posts? (i.e. held a DL for so many years, cats C1&D1, age etc.) I know its a bit of a long shot! Cheers, DJ

Anyone watched this show last night on 4? certainly interesting stuff. I noticed the police officer at the start was wearing a different uniform from the MET (this was filmed in Kings College Hospital).

I've seen firefighters (specifically LFB) wearing their whites on the train. I guess they have different rules to the police?

Has anyone heard of them? Saw a white van riding on blues and twos today in Aberdeen, all marked up with "Scottish Resilience". It wasn't a crew bus but a cargo van, if that makes sense! I've done a bit of googling and found them to be related to 'disaster-preparedness' but can't find anything to do with a fleet or anything. Can anyone shed any light on their purpose, and that of having liviried vans with blues and twos? Merely curious.

I was looking around the internet and came across this video. Its a very interesting and informative video, and I back the claim what its trying to say as I have personally been first on scene to a heart attack patient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUt1xXASm_s&feature=player_embedded For more information visit British Heart Foundation

Just come across this while trawling the internet. http://jobs.manchesterairport.co.uk/jobsearch/jobdetails.asp?PageNum=2&strAction=&PageNav=SearchResults&JobID=547 I'm guessing recruitment for airport fire fighters is rare and not something that props up regularly. The salary is £23,547 and one thing I noticed is that applicants must be 21. Anyone know how this compares to county fire and rescue services?
