Whilst thinking about specials I couldn't see any reason for there not to be a "Special PCSO" as well. Ideal for members of the community who do not want the powers and responsibilities of a PC but still want to help from a policing perspective. Would this be a good idea from a policing point of view and including members of the community who might otherwise be put off from a policing role?

If I am off duty. Say I'm a Met officer. If I am off duty and not necessarily on my way to or from duty or even on standby...........can I legally carry my baton and cuffs on my own person. Seeing as I already have my warrant card and may need off duty involvment who knows. I know there is an issue with CS. But are Batons

Just wondering what that actual figure is of people not sticking to their driving ban. I'm guessing it's quite high due to the risk of being caught is very slim. For somebody who drives being banned for say 2 years would be hard to follow because the temptation would be there. The police can't sit outside houses of everybody who is banned waiting for them to possibly drive. If a car is taxed and insured its not going to ping up anything. We have to wait for either a tip off or an eagle eyed officer to spot them behind the wheel. Any ideas how we can cut down on offenders?

Hi all decided to join after being a special for 3.5 years as i have questions i think you guys can help with. im a section sgt in leicestershire and have just moved station and have the opportunity to head up a rural crime initiative. so do any of the specials here work rurally and do you have any ideas i could gather with regards to: farm crime security wildlife crime or any schemes you have ran in the past? i know all about CESAR and datatag but any ideas would be gratefully recieved thanks Paul

Hey, query regarding not carrying a Warrant Card. If I dont have my warrant card on my person, does this affect my powers?

Just after some info I've got a couple of young kids jumping on my car, i've complained to the neighbour and told the kids off myself and neither action has worked. anyone got any pointers on a course of action? can the police do anything in this instance? Kev

I'm looking for some opinions on a particular topic, namely that officers are being sent more and more to incidents involving arguments/harassment/violence over social media comments. Im aware this has probably been discused before. However, im looking at buying the traffic edition, as traffic is something that greatly interests me... I also want to buy one for general policing, I see the main one is the operational police handbook, is the 2011 the latest one? ANd if so does anyone know if there will be a 2012 version? Thanks

I had occasion to call the police today due to customer getting very aggressive in my shop (I'm behind security glass, so I was fine, I was a bit more worried about the other customers). It got me wondering, if I was PNC checked by the officers attending, would they find out I was a special? Oh, and thanks to Bristol's finest. Quick to attend and sorted it out, with minimal fuss.

The Windsor Report made a lot of recommendations, a number pertaining to the Special Constabulary; two directly about medals. One of these recommendations was that the Special Constabulary Long Service Medal qualification period be reduced from 9 years to a new 5 year point. Another was that the Special Constabulary should be factored into the new general Police Medals Review. Okay, so im a rookie to the world of policing and in this particular instance, the world of forums so bare with me if i seem a tad naive! I recently sent my application in and i'm awaiting confirmation of its reciept. granted, it was only sent a few days ago but im curious as to how long it usually takes for the a confirmation to arrive and then how long it is between this and being invited to the next stage (should my paper sift go well!).
