Is it an non endorsabe offene to overtake on a road which has heverons on it marking a turning point to the right on a single carigeway road. The cheveron white lines have gaps between them as I no a solid white line is an offence. Any clarification would be appreciated

An under-18 tries to purchase alcohol using either a fake ID, or dishonestly passing off someone else's. The door staff presented with the ID keep hold of it. I've never come across such a complaint (given the situation of the complainer themselves), but how would an offence like this be dealt with up here? Either the young person from whom it was taken, or the real 'owner' of the ID. One of these things which seems to pose an ethical issue! Cheers DJ

I was recently stopped on my way home from work and given a fixed penalty notice for not displaying an L plate on the rear of my bike. I have one displayed on the front and as far as i was aware i had one on the rear also. After i was stopped i immediately rectified the fault by purchasing a new set of plates, which i still have the receipt for. What can i do about it as i really dont want to have 3 points?. EDIT: I pointed out to the officer that i did have one fitted as indicated by the screws which remained in the number plate.

in scotland about 40 years ago would a charge of breach of peace ( fine ) give you a criminal record? Would that still be on your record today from 40 years ago? if that person was at court and they said there was no previous does that mean that the breach did not result in a criminal record?

When I worked as Security in England, clear powers were given under section 24A should we need to detain someone if a situation arose (i.e controlled substances being found, or an assault having taken place.) However in Scotland there is no 'codified any-person power of arrest', and the sources I've been reading, state that the common law alternative can only be used in serious circumstances, where the person detaining has actually witnessed the incident and is sure a crime has been commited. Was doing a little reading earlier when I came across something in my notes dealing with section one of the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005. It is specifically stated in my notes that this does not apply to BTP constables and PINS also says the same thing. This got me wondering as to why this was the case, it seems as if it would apply to BTP constables and the legislation makes no mention of it that I can see. Hi, New to this forum. My ex partner worked for a well known union in Glasgow and suffered years of bullying and harassment. So much so that she resigned after a heated argument, she tried to rescind this but was refused. A few weeks later she took her own life. What can I do about this and is there any help out there for people in similar situations

Often I see dogs off of their leads, dog breeds which could cause alarm and distress to members of the public. Has anyone encountered a situation whereby they would enforce this law? What would you personally do? Confront the owner? Ask them to muzzle the dog/put it on a lead? And a general question if you encountered it, would you call up for the dog handler or the council? on the road more and more these days are cyclists a lot of them choose to use the strobe style front and rear lights. now i have seen some that are almost as bad as some DJ strobe equipment. What is the law in Scotland regarding this? I find them very distracting and annoying. I suffer alot from migranes and this is a trigger for me.

I've got a mate who's an SC in E&W and hes just passed his Scottish entrance exam for Central Scotland regulars. Anyway hes convinced this is the right move for him not only because no where in E&W is recruiting but because of how the law differs (what with everything being common law) He visited a station recently to talk to officers and he was amazed at how little paperwork there is compared to down here, he said its almost like the odds are stacked in the favor of the police and law abiding public rather than the criminal! Looking for some advice or interpretation of a traffic violation ticket that was issued this week. The driver in question was given an optional fixed penalty. The written wording of the violiation if failure to comply with a red traffic signal . No violation code listed. A summary of the drivers poistion is listed as below. The car was being driven in an urban area at night. There was a police car parked at a T junction when the driver passed by. so i was at a party last night everyone had a few drinks etc my girlfriend went to get juice from the car and she noticed the car beside me (land rover) had been revered along the side of my car the guy who was driving was spotted lifting the keys to the said car and later admitted it was him who done it both cars are insured but the person who drove the car dosnt have a licence or insurance for it so have i been hit by an uninsured driver? will i have to claim through my insurance or can i claim through the land rovers insurance? he was arrested
