Hi everyone, I'm currently in need of a police clearance certificate and wanted to know if anyone knows which police stations do this (if any?) I've popped into my local police station (Coatbridge) and they told me they couldn't do it... and to try Hamilton police station. Went there, said they couldn't do it. So... Do I have to go to the metropolitan police in London to get it done? It costs 70 quid! And thats not taking travel into account! Any ideas? I'm really stuck. Thanks, Elliot

Hello, I have a conviction for stalking/harassment. The complainer has told everyone in the area that I am a full time serial professional stalker and I get bad looks from everyone. I have now recovered from suicidal thoughts, dreams, medication which influenced me to stalking. I now want to be on good behaviour, am I allowed to put up window signs in my car window and house window I am a peaceful person or will this cause fear and alarm to people and cause distress to people in my local area neighbours. I can't remember where I seen this but it is true that, in Scotland, it's an offence if you refuse to give details to the police? If an officer has reasonable suspicion to suspect you of committing a crime or if you are being questioned as a witness then you are required to give your details. That's fine. Scenario: If I have committed no crime and the officers, for some reason, want my details am I entitled to deny them? Could someone clarify when you are obliged to give your details? I'm not someone that is trying to make the job of a police officer harder, I just want to know when I'm entitled to withhold my details from them. Thanks.

Do British citizens have the right to remain silent when police come to your door or car and notify them that your lawyer will be in contact rather than you? They will probably leave you with a fine or caution no matter if you tell the truth or lie they will still aim to prosecute you.

Quick Query/Question that I think I know the answer to, just wanting to run it by people. S.23 is obviously the power to stop, detain and search persons you have reasonable cause to suspect may be in possession of a controlled drug. However, it does hold any power (as far as I'm aware) with regards to requiring personal details. If you find drugs on them however, different story, you have your powers under s.14 or the silent power of arrest (not providing or not satisfied with details) My question however, you detain someone for a s.23, you require them to give there details (Prior) to the search and they refuse. Hi all, Almost a year ago I was attacked by my ex partner, she came at me with a knife, slashed my face, missed my neck, I dodged a gut stab then got stabbed 4 more more times on the leg, I was trying to escape but I was cornered with a knife in my leg, I grabbed the closest thing I could of the bunker and struck her with it, this object was a hammer as I had been renovating the house. Hi For a upcoming independent skit film. It is planned that someone will wear a Arktis High Vis Vest similar to the one used by British Police forces, while driving a car. If the vest does not say "Police" or any other police related wording can this be classed as imitating a police officer in Scotland. The Vests are readily available on the Internet. If no comments were made about being a police officer would you be allowed to wear one in the street? Thanks

So I disappear for a bit and come back to find that no-one has posted in what used to be my favourite forum for almost 18 months. I'll admit to being out of the loop, or even more out of the loop than I used to be, on Scots Law. So has anything changed over the past 18 months? Other than reducing the drink drive limit that is.
