Hi, I was asked to go to the police station to answer questions relating to my ex partner, she actually assaulted me and damaged my property, i restarined her and she called the police. I was informed that i was not being charged, and asked if i would go down to the police station to answer some questions. When i arrived i was held for about 2 hours then questioned and all of the conversation was recorded. I was later told that there was no charges being brought agains me but i should go to an other address for that night. I am now wondering if this will show up on my disclosure as although i was not charged and completly innocent i was told that it could come up under …

I've looked at every topic in the "It's the law: Scotland" section, so I am confident this hasn't been done before. Today was the start of the Scots Law unit of my course. We just done the types of law in Scotland. The lecturer mentioned several things which she thought was good about Scots Law. So, what do you like about Scots Law? (Is there a certain crime or offence which you're glad there is? A particular police power which exists?) Anything at all really.

Came across an annoying issue at the weekend. Apparently an individual interpreter cannot be used to interpret the caution + charge for more than one suspect, can anyone explain why this is? I could just about see the argument for different interpreters for interviews, although even then given the same solicitor can act for multiple clients in a case it seems somewhat out of place. There were even doubts about the whole detention to arrest procedure - except as both detainees in our case were being kept for court, and there was only one interpreter for that language on, we had no choice but to use the same interpreter. If someone was caught drinking alcohol in a public place and once asked to hand it over to police they refused, what action could the police then take?

So, today I saw something extremely bizarre. Basically a three door car pulled into a parking space. The five occupants exited the vehicle and where, for a few seconds, waiting at the boot. Then the driver opens the boot and a woman gets out and dusts herself down and they all went on their merry way. As road traffic law isn't my forte, what offences, if any, did she or anyone else commit?

Hi. A car parked in front of a drive therefore preventing a person from going back into there drive. Is this obstruction? I'm lead to belive that its only obstruction if the car is within the drive?

Hello all, Just wondering if someone can answer me a question in regard to the above offences. As far as I was aware you cannot be charged with these offences in Scotland. I am not a Police Officer but bought a few law books years ago to read while going through the recruitment stages which I sadly did not pass. A friend of mine asked me if it was true that serious assault/assault are the scottish equivalents of ABH/GBH. I thought they were but didnt know about affray. Can anyone thats a serving officer advise me which is correct? Many Thanks
