Just helping a friend of mine and I'm kinda stumped on this one. Is there a limit on how much alcohol a barman/woman can sell an individual? I used to work in a pub and we weren't allowed to sell anything above a double, but not sure if it's just left to individual companies to decide or if it's law. Thanks for your help. Monk

Hi all, Well i am just back from Halfords with my cousin and we where shopping for a child car seat for her 3 year old and we eventually got one. So halford were offering a free fitting and we said why not. So when he was fitting it he was telling me the rules about car seats and where he can put it. My cousin said she wanted it next to her (Passenger side from driver) and the fitter said "You can't have it there because of the law" so she said i will have it behind me (Behind the drivers seat) and he said "You can't have it there too" He said you can only have it on the rear, facing the passenger side to her. Whats the situation for begging in scotland ? Local herberts.. heroin users going around the bus station giving make up stories that they need money to get to glasgow to see their dying mother in hospital or new born... Daily.. ( the story obviously not true) Pressuring elderly to give money... Ive actualy witnessed someone as the woman has reluctantly told them no several times give up, and get her purse out... to be told how much he needs and take cash... And other general begging etc... Sir student could you possibly help ? Im just generaly interested for my own sake if theirs any laws in place. Cheers Lewis

Hiya, just wanting to gather up some opintions and views on somthing here.... I work in Glasgow City centre as a Door Supervisor (Bouncer/ Doorman, what ever you want to call it) My colleague who works on the door with me refused a male entry to our venue as we beleived he had drank too much to enter, the male asked for a reason for being refused, my colleague asked the male to come back another night and he would be able to get in then, the male was refusing to leave the door so i took i used a switch technique and tried to offer the male some other places to go he wasnt intrested he refused to move away from the door which he was obstructing so my colleague put an ope…

Im a taxi owner (plated as a tx) and have been getting complaints from neighbours about private hire cabs parking near their homes so Im looking for some info about private hire cabs parking up while waiting for their next fare. Im sure there was a law that stated that they had to return to base while awaiting their next job. I would be grateful for any help on this matter cheers.

I know it's legal to drive to have an MOT done whilst on SORN, but is it still legal to do this if your MOT hasn't yet run out? It just seems to me that you only get away with being untaxed because you hve no MOT to get taxed with. Anyone able to tell me?

I apologise if this is in the wrong section. I've still a year to go before my licence restriction is up, so I'm thinking about getting a bike over 33bhp then restricting it. If I dyno one of these bikes and find it's naturally dropped to under 33 horse, would it be feasable to insure it saying it had been restricted to under 33bhp? Could I even not mention the restriction, as I would be complying with my licence if it's under 33 no matter what. If it's not under 33bhp on the dyno, could I make my own restriction then buy one of the certificates off of ebay legally?

Well I'm sure we all know the new Licensing Act came into force on the 1st Sept. How much information have we all received on it? Below is the main points I've been sent. Premises Licence - The 2005 Act simplifies matters in relation to licenced premises and registered clubs. It replaces the seven types of licence available under the 1976 Act (Public House, Entertainment etc.) and the process of registration of Clubs with just one licence i.e. the Premises Licence. If you were sitting a vehicle with the keys and over the precribed limit of alchohol, I'm assuming you would be arrested for being Over the prescribed limit whilst being in charge of a motor vehicle? If you were sitting in a motor home whilst over the prescribed limit with the keys in your hand, would you be arrested? If not, why not? I know its quite sinister, however the definitive answer will settle a Dispute!!! Cheers, Peter.

HI ALL, Can anyone help me with this, i would like to know the Scottish Police Caution. I know the English Caution goes like this, (I think) “You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.” Thanks all

Where does scottish law stand with flashing lights on a vehicle? Numerous times I have saw a small van with ladders on the top going around my town with blue flashing lights on its interior mirror performing deadly manouvers at even more deadly speeds. I'm quite sure it's not a police vehicle. I also saw red and white flashing LED lights today on the front grill bit of a "Traffic Management Specialist" (I think) car. Not that this matters as much as the above, as some of the manouvers I saw this guy perform really did look deadly Nearly went straight into the front of me when overtaking a car. Hi all, I was coming back from Edinburgh yesterday and i noticed this van with a passenger holding a baby on her lap and i wanted to know if he is committing an offence with the baby not being in a car seat. The van looks to be a company van to do with roadworks and it had on the back "Well driven" should we have phoned that number? I have attached a photo. I have covered up the persons face.

Last week, I had this youth come in to the supermarket to buy alchol, the boy let me know he has just turned 18 in the last week, and gave me his passport. Now the photo was of him, when he was 12 yrs old, and there was features which I could indentify, but I had decided not on my own judgement, but to call a supervisor accross, so they could make the decission if we sell the alchol. she was quite happy to do this, as long as the passport was in date Should we have sold him the alchol, as far as I was concerned it could have been anyone, but not the passport holder
