HELP! Whats the script? Car pulled over as it is suspected the driver has no insurance. Driver tells officers he has insurance, so is issued a HORT1 to produce his insurance docs at a station. Driver produces a valid certificate, however further enquiry with the insurance company reveals that the driver cancelled the policy a month later and therefore has no insurance. Driver is subsequently charged at his house with:- No insurance Producing invalid docs in the knowledge that they are invalid Permitting the vehicle to be on a public road with no insurance (as the car was parked outside his house on the road at the time of charge) My question is.....CAN I SEI…

I was wondering what happens when an offence is committed in Scotland, but the offender crosses the border before being arrested in England/Wales - or vice versa. I have a few specific questions: 1) Can a Scottish officer pursue an offender over the border and arrest in England? How about the other way round? 2) Whose law would the arrest/charge be under? 3) Are there offences that don't exist the other side of the border? How would that change things? 4) Is any of the above different for specials, rather than regulars? I know absolutely nothing about Scottish Law and live in the South of England, so please excuse my ignorance!

Not sure what area this should be in as there is not a Northern Ireland area but from what I have heard it effects all of the UK. I have heard the law is changing regaurding drivers of emergency vehicles. As a member of St John ambulance i would drive our vehicles and a couple of times I have unfortuantly required the use of blues and twos. I have heard that new driver training is going to be required for this come next year. Can anyone shed some light on this for me, what training assesment is required etc thanks

See if I'm towing a trailer, do I need a numberplate on both the rear of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer?

One of my mates is currently applying to go work abroad in China teaching English to High School Children; as part of the application process they are requiring a Disclosure Scotland to be submitted but he's a bit worried about it. He was stupidly caught urinating in public last week and given a fixed (£40) ticket for it. He just concerned if this will turn up on the Disclosure Scotland, however I'm pretty sure it won’t, can anyone confirm what the case is for fixed penalties?

Hey there.... I heard when I was a kid that if a police officer is alone they aren't able to make an arrest or that if they don't have their flat cap on they won't be able to make an arrest, now I'm able to say that as an individual with, what i can consider, a suitable level of common sense I can make my own mind up concerning these claims. Such as: they're rubbish, how can an officer of the law be foiled in making a lawful arrest on someone simply due to the fact they don't have a cap on or there is only one of them.... I was just wondering what was the basis for such assumptions and if there was any truth to such occurences..

Hi, A friend of mine was yesterday pulled over by 2 police officers for showing an incorrect tax disc on a classic morris minor which receives free road tax. Upon pulling him over they asked him about his insurance details, i had organised fully comprehensive insurance on a seperate vehicle and was waiting for the policy information to be sent through from the insurer. I was under the impression that as i had insured my friend fully comp he would be allowed 3rd party insurance on another vehicle, although the police officer said that this isnt infact the case My friend was given 2 FPN, 1 for failure to display sufficient road tax £60 , 1 for driving without insurance…

Hello folks. I want to tax my car online and I know they check your insurance with the Motor Insurers Database. Basically there's a good chance I will need to try and tax it online about 10 minutes after I insure it. Q1: How long does it take for my insurance company to tell the MID that I am insured? Q2: If I need to get tax at the Post Office, can I print off a cover note and use that as proof of cover when buying? I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

Morning one and all, My local pub has just been refurbished and a new sound sytem has been put in to play music etc. I know the pub proprieter quite well and has asked me for advice regrding sound pressure levels as he had a complaint from a neighbour across the street, however it turned out it was a vehicle sitting there blasting music. He wants to keep himself right and Im wondering what the legal noise limit is for inside a pub is it 80dB? I ll do a risk assessment so he can keep a bit of paper to say he has looked at the risk. to help him out I intend to get an SPL meter (Sound pressure level) to get the maximum legal volume then mark that on the amplifier.....but …

What is the legalities surrounding a dog bite? My girlfriends dog bit me the other day right on the noise. I'm not intending to report it or anything like that but it got me thinking and i thought i would ask the 'experts'.

Hey just a quick query when admittance is refused to a premises to search for a person with an apprehension warrant it is my understanding that entry may be forced as a last resort and when in possession of the warrant. The reason I ask is a regular was given "a slap on the wrists" for doing so by his inspector. Now the regular in question had reasonable suspicion to think that the person was in the household shat annoys me even more is that he was within the household and was duly arrested. I was wondering what if any others experience and advice is on this matter. Thanks

I usually carry a Leatherman knife with a 2.8 inch blade - more specifically this one: http://www.leatherman.com/knives/retired-k...306x-e307x.aspx I use it all the time at work for opening boxes and working on computers - all in all a very handy tool. Now with all the (justified) uproar about knife crime, and lots more searching done for knives such as in train stations, if I was stopped by the police would I be in trouble? Just a quick one and sorry if its in the wrong thread. Are tatoo studios classed as licenced premises in the same sense as pubs/clubs etc? I ask as I had a tatoo yesterday and was talking to the owner of the studio who mentioned he needs a licence to tatoo people. This got me thinking, if someone entered his studio for a tatoo and was asked to provide proof of age which appeared to be false, obviously he can refuse anyone but if said person refused to leave the locus, could we arrest for refusing to quit licenced premises or attempting to obtain goods by deception (suspicion until details can be confimed so detention initially) I suppose we could go for a 2 cop BoP b…
