Police have seized heroin and cocaine worth more than £3m in Glasgow. Officers from the Strathclyde Police major crime and terrorism investigation unit grabbed the haul at 15:00 on Friday. A total of 26kg of heroin and 11kg of cocaine were recovered in a flat on Craigbo Avenue, Maryhill. A 50-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were arrested and taken into police custody, in connection with the seizure. Prosecutors have dropped the case against nurse Rebecca Leighton, who was charged with contaminating saline at a Greater Manchester hospital. Ms Leighton, 27, of Heaviley, was arrested by police investigating the deaths of several patients at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. The Crown Prosecution Service said it was "no longer appropriate" to continue the case against Ms Leighton. It has told the prison where she was being held that she can be released. Greater Manchester Police were initially investigating the deaths of five patients at the hospital. Pc Kerry Smith faces prosecution after an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The case relates to a crash in Leagrave Road, Luton, last June which killed two men, Reda Lecheheb and Sidali Melal. Pc Smith, who was based in Luton at the time, is due in St Albans Magistrates' Court on 9 February.

Four men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of committing slavery offences in the raid at Greenacre travellers' site, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, on Sunday. The men, who are English, Polish and Romanian, were found in "filthy and cramped" conditions, police said. Detectives believe some may have been there for up to 15 years. A police officer and a doctor who worked for the police have escaped death following separate bomb attacks at their homes in County Londonderry. BBC News NI Police said they received a report of two cars on fire in separate areas of Derry at about midnight on Tuesday. Following this, officers discovered a device in the garden of the doctor's house. He and his wife were moved and the device, which police said was capable of causing damage, injury or death, was made safe by the Army. Criminals and drug dealers were caught in an undercover sting after police officers posed as staff in a fake hip hop music shop.
