http://www.bbc.co.uk...hester-14816940 A florist who stabbed to death an intruder at his shop in Greater Manchester will not be charged, the Crown Prosecution Service has said. Cecil Coley, 72, who has a shop in Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford, was arrested on suspicion of murder after an alleged raid on 26 July. He was due to answer bail on Friday over 30-year-old Gary Mulling's death. But prosecutor Nazir Afzal said he was satisfied Mr Coley had acted "in reasonable self-defence".Mr Afzal, chief prosecutor for the north west, said: "It is difficult to envisage a more frightening set of circumstances than these. 'Insufficient evidence' "Four men, armed with guns and a…

BBC It is good that she has got to prison, although I can't quite see the logic in jailing her for 9 months yet only banning her for 15 months - why not ban her for 5 or 10 years?

The government is considering whether to allow some sentencing in English and Welsh courts to be televised. A government spokesman said it was considering proposals to allow limited recording and transmission from courts. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14798203 I see no reason why not, it is rarely a private affair, anyone can go in to watch. But why only the sentencing, I want to rubberneck the whole proceedings.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b014j09h/Crimewatch_Catch_Me_If_You_Can_Armed_Robbers/ Yes it was quite intresting watching it, but is it not a worry the amount of information that is shown from a Police point of view? Watching stuff like this, Traffic Cops etc certainly gives you an idea of Police workings is that a postive thing?

So the Policy Exchange has come up with another brilliant idea by suggesting that Police Officers should travel to and from work in uniform to reassure the Public. Have any of them ever had an "actual" job? Blair Gibbs from the Policy Exchange has just been on BBC Breakfast with Paul Mckeever. The suggestion is that officers especially in London who benefit from using public transport could wear their uniform to work to kid the public that there are more Police Officers on duty than there actually are. Might be slightly uncomfortable wearing all your PPE on the train. There again as you shouldnt take it home - how would that work

A station master who feared for his life when he was brutally attacked by a passenger told of his "disgust" today after the thug walked free from court. Mario Jenkins, 43, was helping a colleague settle a dispute with Wokciech Slusarczyk over a train fare at Liverpool Street station when he was set upon. Slusarczyk, 29, followed him to a private office, floored him and punched him repeatedly in the face, smashing his head onto the concrete floor. The court heard that the victim feared he would die until security guards rushed to his aid. Mr Jenkins, a customer services manager for National Express East Anglia, was left heavily bruised and concussed and was off work for se…

The Labour leader today called on the 'reckless' Government to drop plans to cut the police force and urged ministers to 'learn from the riots'. Ed Miliband vowed to force a vote in Parliament to prevent 16,000 officers being axed from the police service. Scotland Yard has already been hit by huge bills after the force anticipates they have spent more on policing the riots than it spent on policing all major public order events in the capital last year, officials said today. The disturbances will cost the force more than £34 million, with the total expected to rise even further as the final bills from other forces called in to help is settled, the Metropolitan Police Au…

The U.S. Supercop drafted in by David Cameron to advise on gang violence, has branded morale among London Met officers as 'awful.' Bill Bratton, credited with turning round the New York and Los Angeles police departments, claimed the rank and file were demotivated. "Moral is awful. All you have to do is read their police bogs." Do Police tend to write their annoyances in the loo?

Due to the inept way the courts have dealt with rioting it appears some have not got the message, harsher sentencing is and was required. I am guessing this sort of rioting will happen again. Sky News can reveal how rioting gang members have stored away firearms ready for further disorder after the unrest in England last month. http://web.orange.co.uk/article/news/exclusive_gangs_store_guns_for_more_riots

The U.S. Supercop drafted in by David Cameron to advise on gang violence, has branded morale among London Met officers as 'awful.' Bill Bratton, credited with turning round the New York and Los Angeles police departments, claimed the rank and file were demotivated. He said the slump was similar to the LAPD before he took over the department in 2002 following a corruption scandal. He told the Financial Times: ''It's the old Gilbert and Sullivan [dictum] the policeman's lot is not a happy one. 'Moral is awful. All you have to do is read their police bogs. I had an email from a friend who said, 'Bill, this reminds me of the LAPD.' The U.S. officers in the anti-gang unit…
