"The report accepts that many officers not making arrests do important work such as management, running police cells and undercover investigation. But it says the findings suggest 'there remain too many officers not in front-line roles where their warranted powers are being exercised'. http://www.policyexchange.org.uk/news/news.cgi?id=2338 Maybe time for a rethink on voluntary work for Police, lots out there would consider helping out, but not easy to get in.

Nearly 15,000 police officers did not arrest a single criminal last year, a report reveals today. The figures will reinforce concerns that too many officers are stuck in 'back office' jobs, doing paperwork and not carrying out front-line police tasks. Research by the Policy Exchange think-tank found 14,500 officers had no arrests against their names in 2010. The findings are from 18 out of the 43 forces in England and Wales, and if repeated across the remainder it could mean tens of thousands more are not making arrests. The report found one in 20 officers – a total of 7,280 – are doing roles which could be carried out by cheaper civilian staff, including work in …

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2031028/Son-police-boss-Labour-party-chief-arrested-riots.html The son of a former police watchdog has been arrested on suspicion of looting a mobile phone shop during the recent riots. Detectives raided the council flat home of Mark Duvall after someone claimed to recognise him in CCTV footage released by police. He is the 25-year-old son of senior Labour politician Len Duvall, a London Assembly member and former head of the Metropolitan Police Authority. The arrest is embarrassing to Mr Duvall, a staunch supporter of Ian Blair during his time as Met commissioner. Just days earlier he had called on the public to turn in yobs w…

The mother of a teenager murdered by a man she met on Facebook is planning to sue four police forces. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14663054 Go on honey, go sue the Police for your own inadequacy . Cannot watch what your kids are up to online, then get Police involved when it all goes wrong. BTW, what was he doing on the streets to begin with. But as ever it is our Police who`s doorstep the rubbish always lands on. As for IPCC, I am doing the two finger salute.
