Someone needs to take a reality check. In my mind a jobless 46 year old fella with three kids should be out looking for a job not playing Call of Duty... Strange world we live in.

Heard this being talked about this morning. The guy clearly has an excellent service record, but his comments on specials towards the end make me think how serious can he be with clearly very little research. Do we want someone running our forces who think specials should be given full powers of arrest?! Article Source: telegraph website

Victims, rather than the police, should have final say on whether the crimes against them are investigated, according to the new Metropolitan police chief, Bernard Hogan Howe. Do you agree? http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/poll/2011/sep/28/victims-decide-crimes-investigated Sounds a good way to save money, I expect Police would normally investigate a crime no matter what.

The Inquest has concluded and what have we learnt? Basically Moat was a murderer who killed himself, the police were trying to save his life by using the tasers. Would the officers have been better off by thinking; 'don't bother as we will get blamed for it' ? Clicky

A man who drove his 4x4 up Snowdon said he did it because it was top of his "50 things to do before he dies" list. Craig Williams, 39, from Gloucestershire, said it was not a publicity stunt and something he did on the spur of the moment. He added he understood criticism that his actions had been irresponsible. Mr Williams has been charged with driving on common land and will appear in court on 16 September. "There's no plan of action as we speak, there wasn't to begin with," he told the BBC. "Out of a list of 50 things to do before you die, this was one of them. "If you think that was on top of the list, the other 49 are now not going to be done," he added. …

Independent - Raoul Moat police had unauthorised tasers Firearms officers were "put on the spot" when they were controversially handed unauthorised shotgun Tasers in a doomed bid to bring in Raoul Moat alive, a police weapons expert said. X12 shotguns had never been used in a UK operation before and were only licenced for testing purposes. When they were deployed in Rothbury, Northumberland, it was the first time officers had handled them. Peter Boatman, an ex-police firearms officer and director of UK suppliers Pro-Tect Systems, offered them to Northumbria Police in the belief the non-lethal weapons would make officers on the manhunt safer The X12, which fires XREP c…

A fanatical terrorist has escaped being thrown out of the UK because it would breach his human rights. Hate-filled Siraj Yassin Abdullah Ali, graded the highest possible risk to the public, was released after serving just half of his nine-year sentence for helping the July 21 bombers. He now mingles freely among the Londoners his co-plotters tried to kill six years ago. Threat: Siraj Yassin Abdullah Ali has been using public transport Government officials are desperate to deport the Islamic fundamentalist back to his native Eritrea but have been told they cannot because he could face 'inhumane treatment or punishment'. Ali was convicted of helping a gang of five Al…

West Mercia Police is to cease keeping records of everyone it stops and questions to help save money and reduce officers' paper work. The campaign group StopWatch, which aims to hold police to account, said records allowed it to measure how stop-and-account powers were being used. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-15052258 Trust the Police to do their job, there are enough bodies to hold the Police to account, surely less paperwork can only be a good thing?
