Just looking at some police officer's duty belts, i can't help but notice how insecure some of the equipment looks. E.g, open top baton scabbards and those cuff holders that are nothing more than a leather strap across the middle don't look like they would keep the equipment in place when in a foot pursuit. Plus the radios look like they're gonna fly off when the officer runs. So just out of interest, has anyone ever had a piece of equipment fall out during a foot pursuit? I'm also interested in stories of lost radios as i know Klickfast is very fail-safe but the radios seem to get a lot of freedom of movement. Thanks

http://www.bbc.co.uk...mshire-14934275 Police have arrested a scrap metal dealer after a raid on a yard in Nottinghamshire. The raid was part of a "day of action" to tackle metal theft in the county, which has risen by 17% in the past three years. Theft in metal costs the country more than £1bn every year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15346864 Metal theft is causing thousands of delays on the rail network, and affecting phone lines across the county. And as the price for scrap metal goes up, so does the number of thefts. John Maguire has been to one scrap metal merchant in Hertfordshire, to see the steps they are taking to prevent people coming to them with stolen…

An undercover police officer has been accused of taking part in a criminal trial under an alias, calling into question the safety of a conviction. A defence solicitor has told the BBC's Newsnight his firm unwittingly acted for Det Con Jim Boyling alongside other activists in legal proceedings. The officer, who was engaged in covert surveillance of an environmental group, was arrested and charged in 1996. The Metropolitan Police has so far declined to comment. Det Con Boyling is said to have attended sensitive legal meetings and the final trial under his alias. One of the other activists was convicted of public order offences at the 1997 trial, but the undercover offi…

I see inflation is at its highest for many years. Ive also seen that because of this pensions and benefits will increase next april to coincide with the cost of living rise. I'll have that there should be an increase in pensions, but think they should be means tested aqainst what you have paid in over the years. Isnt fair that someone whos never worked gets same as someone whos worked 40 hours a week. But beneifts being increased. Well thats a kick in the teeth for every hard working person in this country. Workers are poorer because of the cost of living rise and those who wont work are going to be kept in the lifestyle they are accustomed. It may be living in rub…

Bill Wilson: One of the six officers accusing the Met Continue reading the main story Related Stories Officer cleared of racial abuse Six white police officers have accused Scotland Yard of racial discrimination, saying they are the victims of political correctness. The officers are taking the Metropolitan Police to an employment tribunal - but accuse the force of delaying tactics. One of the officers, speaking for the first time to the BBC, said he now had nothing but contempt for the force. Scotland Yard says it rejects the claims and will contest them in court. The six men, all members of the Territorial Support Group, were tried and acquitted in a trial r…

Authority members accused the two stores of being responsible for a rise in the force's statistics for shoplifting. They blamed the stores for not having enough security after a number of call-outs to deal with shoplifters. Official statistics read out in the meeting by Assistant Chief Constable Chris Eyre reveal there was a 1.8 per cent rise in theft, including shoplifting, and handling stolen property in Notts between April and August this year. Police authority chairman Councillor Jon Collins said: "Let's be clear who we have a problem with here, it's the Tesco in Bulwell and Primark in the city centre. "These stores really need to sort their security out. It's abo…

Officers in Staffordshire Police are also being urged to hand out more on the spot penalties and let low level anti-social behaviour be handled by council workers. Senior officers have issued the new advice after paying accountants KPMG £480,000 to provide advice on how to cut costs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8834612/Police-told-to-make-fewer-arrests-to-save-money.html Maybe time to arrest the accountants.

Police were in Edgware, north London, searching for lost property when a man is said to have emerged from bushes and ignored officers' calls for him to stop. He ran to a nearby house, chased by police dog Zinzan, and his handler. As Zinzan tried to enter, the door was repeatedly slammed on the dog's head and neck, leaving the animal screaming in pain. That is just shocking to the extreme, the poor Dog , no doubt he will get a suitable punishment yeah right!!! http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23998593-man-charged-over-injured-police-dog.do

London mayor tells Tory conference he will not tolerate police numbers falling below safe or reasonable levels on his watch http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011/oct/04/boris-johnson-people-swearing-police-arrested?INTCMP=SRCH It is a start, if I had it my way, anyone looking oddly at a Officer should be arrested. Question must be, why has he not put this idea into place ages ago?

http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16069670 In my experience of talking to non police personnel the public want the offenders jailed for significant amounts of time. I agree that restorative justice is a valuable tool but I think that victims should be able to tell the offenders the effect that their actions have had whilst they stew in their prison cells, will give them plenty time to think about it. I think the only reason they are bandying these stats about is so that they can justify not sending more rioters to prison as they are struggling to cope. What does everyone else think?

Hi, I saw an episode of emergency bikers the other day and the biker medic had called police assistance. The officer who responded to the call looked like just a normal cop in a panda car but he had 2 identical tetra radios one on each shoulder. Why does he need two identical radios? Does anyone else carry 2?
