http://www.bbc.co.uk...kshire-15519226 only in my opinion why should he get a big pay off when An investigation found that Mr Maxwell helped a relative gain unfair advantage in a police recruitment drive for 60 jobs in 2010 The inquiry into the misconduct claims cost taxpayers more than £300,000. . no wonder the police service are short of cash, when that sort of money would be better spent on more police officers and not the cut backs we see today in my opinion.

Very surprised that Brodie Clarke got caught for this one given the number of officers he threatened with dismissal if they considered not conducting the full range of entry checks on every single arriving passenger. He seems to have led a charmed life up til now, what with the IRA breakout at Whitehill Prison and his previous suspension over immigration scandals. BBC News - Border Chief suspended

Inspector Neil Murray of Essex Police presented certificates to six more district council workers last week. There are now 16 council employees - including street cleaners and gardeners - taking part in the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS). http://www.essex.pol...ouncil_sta.aspx Hand all Police powers to the various councils round the UK, then, what? We scrap the Police? "CSAS grants accredited people limited powers" Or, maybe they be police officers paid by the council rather then government? Either way this does not smell right.

Police are encouraging nightclubs to use digital technology such as scanning people's fingerprints to help tackle problems with revellers. One Cardiff nightspot uses such a system already and police will host a demonstration next week to persuade more licenced premises to sign up. http://www.bbc.co.uk...-wales-15497733 Does that mean if I put in for this finger print device I can scan anyone who wishes to enter my vehicle? What makes nightclubs so special? BTW, if Police are going to allow the general public to have access to peoples info, how much is a ANPR machine, and when can I have that wired up?

A Nottingham man who posted sexual images of his former girlfriend online as he stalked her via social networking sites has been jailed for four months. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-15522222 I doubt this man was expecting such a sentence. But how does one define what is and what is not stalking on the net. If I say HELLO to the new MOD on this site is that stalking? If I asked after his state of health, as in How are you? Is that a form of stalking, Does it have to be pictures of the person? Lots of questions cannot find answers.

John Carle, of the Scottish SPCA, and Naria Elrick, 46, leaped into action when knife-wielding teenager Alan Hemsley targeted the village of New Deer in Aberdeenshire. Residents watched as Hemsley attempted to rob two village shops armed with a wooden baton and a knife. He fled the scene when Mr Carle and Ms Elrick, who were volunteering at a Re…

Not sure if anyone will be watching the program tonight but may be of interest to some. Personally I am not a big fan of the Panorama format as I find the 'balance' in their programs a bit too sensationalist at the expense of balance sometimes. http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_9624000/9624787.stm

The Metropolitan police have purchased technology to track all handsets in a targeted area. Photograph: Matthew Lloyd/Getty ImagesBritain's largest police force is operating covert surveillance technology that can masquerade as a mobile phone network, transmitting a signal that allows authorities to shut off phones remotely, intercept communications and gather data about thousands of users in a targeted area. And about time too, may have been useful during the riot times.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/nov/01/parliament-square-squatters-protest?INTCMP=SRCH At least 12 people were arrested after protesters staged a demonstration outside the Houses of Parliament over plans to criminalise squatting. About 150 people gathered in Parliament Square in Westminster shortly after midnight, according to reports. Always a few to ruin what was a pain in the arse anyway.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2056009/Police-accused-boosting-detection-rates-getting-criminals-confess-offences.html Police are boosting their detection rates by getting offenders to confess to other crimes, figures suggest. Convicted criminals asked for a total of almost 69,000 crimes to be 'taken into consideration' in England, Wales and Northern Ireland last year, statistics disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act showed. The offences can then be wiped off the slate, and they cannot be prosecuted for them at a later date. But the practice also allows police to record the crimes as solved, improving the clear-up rates on which their performan…
