I have taken this article from the official Staffordshire Police facebook. Appeal to trace dangerous prisoner (please share) Police have issued an urgent appeal after a dangerous prisoner escaped from a prison escort van in North Worcestershire this morning, Monday, 23 January. It happened at about 8.20am in Hewell Lane, Tardebigge, near Bromsgrove, close to HM Hewell Grange. The prisoner, John Anslow, was charged with murder by Staffordshire Police last week. Anslow, aged 31, who is from the Tipton area, is one of five men charged with the murder of Richard Deakin, who was shot dead in Chasetown, Staffordshire, in 2010. He was charged on Wednesday, 18 January, and w…

POLICE shot a man wielding a knife with a rubber bullet during an armed stand-off in Hampshire. The 26-year-old was arrested outside a house after threatening officers, himself and family members with the knife. He was shot with a “baton round†from a baton gun, a type of handgun carried by armed police for the past ten years. The drama happened at a house in Cranworth Road, Winchester. The man was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital following a suspected overdose. Neighbours said they were woken at about 3.30am by police dogs and police outside. One witness, who did not want to be named, said she heard the man threaten to hurt the residents of the house …

I think many people including Jurno's think Chief Constables loose their ability to arrest when they are in that position. HAMPSHIRE'S top cop got the chance to put his policing skills to the test as he helped colleague's catch their man. Chief Constable Alex Marshall was leaving a meeting in Southampton when he stumbled across two of his officers trying to arrest a man on suspicion of assault. Despite not being in uniform, Mr Marshall jumped into action to help handcuff the 34-year-old suspect, close to the Giddy Bridge pub in London Road, at around 12.30pm yesterday. The man was taken to custody, arrested on suspicion of assault and being drunk and disorderly. On …

AN outspoken Dorset Police officer faces disciplinary action after tweeting about cuts. PC Nick Manning blasted Tory minster Theresa May, his senior officers, a lack of manpower, and the focus of resources on Bournemouth. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9477928.Dorset_PC_facing_disciplinary_following_Twitter_rants/ Rant is strong word, he said it like it is, #isupportnickmanning is presently trending on Twitter, I do hope those that would discipline him take note.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-16583576 I've also had a skim through the actual legislation (and there is a lot of it)! Key points: the reward scheme for specials get specific mention so is looking pretty safe people are calling for a designate Chief Constable to be announced ASAP HQ is being mooted for Tulliallan (to be honest I can't see that, more likely Edinburgh) Forensic sciences are coming home It looks like the SCDEA is remaining but the constables transfer across to be part of the Scottish Police Service Lots of stuff about how there has to be constables appointed to each local authority, plans presented to them and reports made Sco…

THE memory of the riots which scarred Britain last summer is still fresh, and crime rates are creeping up. The need for effective policing of our streets could hardly be greater. Yet the posts of 6,000 police officers have been axed in the past year due to the coalition government's savage spending cuts.
