My friend attended the briefing today. Her summary was: Tasers are in. Free travel out (not immediately). PCSOs future after Olympics not confirmed. 400 PCSOs to be recruited as PCs before the Olympics. Did anyone else go? Or have anything to add?

I know a few forces are seeing significant cash savings as a result but that wasn't mentioned in the article! Not surprising overall though, as when you have a tight deadline, local control (rather than national lead) and pressure to spend asap, things like this are bound to happen!

Take a look at the CCTV. Do you reckon it's just "luck" that the train was there, or was the suspect trying to throw him onto the live tracks and the train got in the way? Anyway - a six month suspended sentence. That'll learn him Link to video on BBC News site

A Shropshire man has been given a six-month suspended prison sentence after admitting throwing another man against a moving train. Daniel Peter Worgan, 24, from Hadley Road, Oakengates, was also ordered to pay £500 compensation and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-16755868 Lucky sod got away with attempted murder.
