A police officer jumped into near-freezing water in the middle of the night to save a man from the River Thames. Pc George Alleway was called to Kingston, south London, at 0245 GMT on 12 February after residents reported a man in his 30s in a distressed state. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12502831 Well done Pc George Alleway!! Don`t Police forces have a policy on diving into water for what ever reason? health and safety.

Hate preacher Abu Qatada will be banned from taking his youngest child to school when he is released from jail today. The Government has won a court ruling preventing him from flaunting his freedom at the school gates while ministers battle to find a way of deporting him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17006269 So the Met have launched a new hotline for people to report 'suspicious' behaviour, but I can help but feel this is more damaging than helpful. This campaign just makes people more suspicious about their neighbours which IMO will only damage community cohesion and relations as a whole. If people are genuinely concerned about someone they think could be involved in terrorist activities, surely they can just phone 101? The hotline and most importantly the press coverage that comes with it, is superfluous and counter productive; all IMHO obviously.

A look into this ever growing problem. Existing legislation to tackle the scourge of metal theft has “passed its sell by date” and a radical overhaul is now needed, a Government Minister has asserted. Addressing delegates at the ACPO Metal Theft seminar in Kettering, Lord Henley, Minister of State for Crime Prevention and Anti-Social Behaviour, said that it was time to call a halt to “our infrastructure being damaged and heritage compromised”. http://policeoracle....ttle_44674.html and the two hour upload. :)
