A private security company is expected to sign a deal to design, build and run a police station in Lincolnshire. The agreement - between G4S and Lincolnshire Police - is thought to be the first of its kind in the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-17119617 I have no comment as it is far beyond my understanding.

http://www.theregist...tsource_to_g4s/ Lincolnshire police authority has made security specialist G4S its preferred bidder in an outsourcing deal that will include ICT, back office and command and control and could be developed into a shared service for other police forces in the country. The company is on course to land a 10-year, strategic partnership contract valued at more than £200m. It beat off competition from a partnership between Steria and Reliance Security to win the deal. In the business support sector G4S will deliver services for ICT, HR, learning and development, assets and facilities management, finance and procurement and supp…

Not seen this on here yet, kind of surprised I've beaten Kenners to it, or maybe I'm just posting in the wrong section and I've missed it,... Anyway,... Bloke (read: chavmong) goes on the rampage in his local with a chainsaw because they wouldn't let him smoke,... The victim he slashed with the saw needed 21 stitches and surgery. The offender got 3 years, and we all know what that will mean in real terms. http://www.thisishul...tail/story.html Obviously hard as nails,... (not)..., Armed with a chainsaw he still got a kicking (which was nice to see),..... the t**t. *edit*: That's not my reason for editing down there, I just put the spacings back in

Special officers on horseback will patrol the Norfolk countryside in an attempt to combat rural crime. The three special officers and one police community support officer will ride the beat in south Norfolk using their own horses for the patrols. Officers said having access to farms and bridleways would have a "huge impact" on what they could do. Mounted patrol officers had been previously last used in Norfolk in the mid-1900s. The move comes as part of the force's Operation Randall, a project to deter criminals targeting the countryside. Officers said patrolling on horseback would give rural communities better access to police support. Continue reading the main stor…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-16838663 "A police patrol officer accused of putting innocent people at risk during a pursuit through Portsmouth has been cleared of dangerous driving." Quite an unpleasant thing for an officer to be put through, especially when its your own command team trying to get you sent to prison for doing the job they asked you to do. I have seen the limited footage and the only thing of note is the van drives the wrong side of the road. I can but assume the management felt that if the pursuit was ended at this point the van would immediately behave and drive normally, but i dont know. ""Police officers involved in pursuits are …

Nice to see some recognition for the bravery of officers well done to all the recipients Two off-duty police officers tackled a dangerous mob – one of whom was armed with a knife. Constables Tony Sheridan and Karl Jackson did not have protective equipment or back up when they confronted the group. The pair, based in Tameside, have now won brave officers of the year at the Chief Constable's Excellence Awards for their handling of the dangerous incident. Highly commended in the same category were Salford-based officers PC Stuart Bentley and PC Louise Warhurst for their actions following a plane crash in Eccles last year. While on patrol, the officers saw a small plane t…

The most senior civil law judge has hit out after a firm of no-win no-fee lawyers charged £74,000 to win less than £13,000 compensation for an injured plumber. Master of the Rolls Lord Neuberger said 'something is out of kilter' when lawyers put in a bill of nearly six times the damages paid for a 'minor injury' in a case that was never contested in court. The charges demanded by personal injury group Irwin Mitchell included fees of up to £250 an hour, to be doubled in the event that it won the case. The criticism from Lord Neuberger, supported by two other judges in an Appeal Court ruling yesterday, comes amid an effort to reform the high costs of the civil justice…
