A man has been found guilty of impersonating a qualified barrister at crown court after he donned a wig and robe to represent a friend he met in prison. David Sydney Evans strolled into Plymouth Crown Court dressed in court attire, gained access to the advocates' dressing room and visited his 'client' in the cells. The 57-year-old was rumbled by the court's judge because of discrepancies in his clothing and a series of 'hopelessly wrong' legal submissions. The jury at Bristol Crown Court found Evans guilty of carrying out a reserved legal activity when not entitled and willfully pretending to be a person with a right of audience. Evans, wearing a grey suit,…

'People in some parts of England and Wales will soon be able to find out from police if their partners have a history of domestic violence'. In my experience, most of them already know. Fancy government schemes will never trump human nature and the power of sexual attraction. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17254163

Parts of Manchester are becoming no-go areas where drugs gangs are effectively in control, a United Nations drugs chief said today. Professor Hamid Ghodse, president of the UN's International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), said there was "a vicious cycle of social exclusion and drugs problems and fractured communities" in British cities including Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. The development of "no-go areas" was being fuelled by threats such as social inequality, migration and celebrities normalising drug abuse, he warned. Helping marginalised communities with drugs problems "must be a priority", he said. "We are looking at social cohesion, the social disintegrat…

BBC News I hope these two get locked up for the next few years of their lives. I remember feeling really quite embarrassed when I saw the student had been in the UK for a month, and this happens to him. I hope his treatment from the police and hospital staff and the subsequent conviction will somehow restore his confidence in our society.

Just watching the news about HMG plans to cap benefits at £26K, the amount an average working family earns. I was angered to watch a woman complaining that the proposals would force her to give up ' a good standard of living ' and move to a smaller house. Bloody sponger. There are far too many benefits handed out willy-nilly and there seems a very small burden of proof required to get them. CLICKY

Fictional TV cop shows are all many people know about the workings of policing. But how accurate are they, asks Giles Edwards. Most people, most of the time, do not have much contact with the police, and thankfully do not need to. But flick on your television and you will be assailed by cop show after cop show - the schedules are dripping with them - from Lewis to New Tricks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16905102 Probably not, but still great fun.

The family of a man whose shooting sparked the London riots say they will give the police watchdog a chance to get the inquiry into his death "right". Mark Duggan, 29, was shot in Tottenham, north London, on 4 August. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-15179361 Obviously cannot think of anything better top protest about, like stopping the guns knives that litter the area.

Not just any bra, but an M&S bulletproof bra: Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2107544/Policewomen-told-buy-comfortable-underwired-bra-safer-shot.html#ixzz1nivMjFo2 male police officers have been urged to wear 'comfortable' underwear from retailers like Marks and Spencer while on duty incase they get shot. Essex Police have written to all their female officers urging them to avoid underwired bras containing metal objects as they might cause more 'ballistic damage'. My life, not sure what Officers get up to private life has anything to do with me. Have I misread something, I am exhausted, I am off to bed.
