POLICE were forced to shoot a dog with a Taser gun after it savaged a puppy and its owner as he tried to defend it. Simon King, 37, was walking his year-old Rottweiler puppy near his home when what he believes was a Staffordshire bull terrier attacked them. As he desperately tried to prise his young dog from the animal's jaws, two police officers who happened to be passing shot it with a Taser gun to force it to let them go. full story below http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Police-zap-dog-puppy-attack-Taser-gun/story-15505532-detail/story.html

Just read this article and although we haven't got the full picture as to why exactly the young man was restrained I'm not sure I understand why £30k in damages were awarded. I appreciate that it would have been very traumatic for the teen and for his family but is awarding this kind of money in the public interest? Thoughts? http://www.channel4.com/news/autistic-teenager-awarded-30-000-damages-from-police

Northamptonshire PCSO explains her role http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-17067749 Police Community Support Officers in Northamptonshire could be facing job losses as the county council plans £500,000 funding cuts. The politics in county chambers and meeting rooms directly affects officers like Kirsten Bates. My thoughts are yes, more powers needed. But of course with that more training.

Dangerous criminals on the run will be named in future after police chiefs were told existing guidelines had been reversed. Offenders who went missing after being recalled to prison could be identified online. The scheme is likely to apply to murderers, rapists and other potentially dangerous individuals. http://news.sky.com/home/politics/article/16186989 Wait for the criminal to sue Police for breach of human rights.

Heard this being discussed on the radio earlier, and thought it an interesting topic... over-reaction by police/social services, or sensible given the circumstances? I have posted highlights of the story, you can read it in full here: Hull Daily Mail

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-17352008 Looters rushed to grab jewellery after a bus crashed into a pawnbrokers in Coventry, according to eyewitnesses. Three people were hurt when the single-decker bus smashed into the shop in Trinity Street just before 15:00 GMT. Bus passenger Zoe Frost said looting began immediately and she was pushed aside as people went for the valuables. It appears nothing has been learnt from the riots of last year, people doing the same crap again. Give them 20 years inside, that might put an end to this.

http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Restrict-Taser-use-and-end-kettling-MP-urges-09032012.htm This man is a genius. Taser needs to be rolled out to every frontline officer, not restricted to the inner cities. As for stop search, I think the topic has been done to death, and the consensus of police officers and law abiding majority, is that if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to be concerned about. The 'disproportionate' amount of stop searches on Black and ethnic minorities in London and other metropolitan cities, is shown to correlate with the persons committing the crime in that area. Stop criming, or stop whingeing. One or the other
