A juror who researched a defendant's past on the internet and shared the information with fellow jurors has been jailed for contempt of court. University of Bedfordshire academic Dr Theodora Dallas, 34, told jurors a man on assault charges at Luton Crown Court had previously been accused of rape. The trial in July 2011 was halted. Dallas, who is Greek, said her grasp of English was sometimes "not that good". Three High Court judges sentenced her to six months in prison. 'Deliberately disobeyed'She was told that she would serve three months in jail and be on licence for the remainder of the term. The judges refused Dallas permission to appeal to the Supreme Court, but…

Police in London will dramatically reduce the number of random stop and searches in an effort to improve relations with black people and ethnic minority communities. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24027388-police-stop-and-search-slashed.do So we not mind if they knife each other, as long as Police do not get blame for stop and searching. I can live with that, not so sure others can.

For most people, the system of civil loss recovery has operated under the radar. The only clues are signs discreetly displayed in stores warning shoplifters they face a claim for compensation if caught. But in the last decade, more than 500,000 people have received demands for hundreds of pounds from retailers via middlemen debt collectors after being caught. No police caution or charge is needed and rarely do the small-time thieves end up in court. In fact, civil loss recovery is largely a response to what retailers claim is a failure by police. In a report published today, the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) makes serious criticisms of the system, labelling it an altern…

A decision to allow TV cameras to film Nottinghamshire police on patrol has been criticised by a police body. Episode two of Channel 4's Coppers followed police officers during the riots in Nottingham last summer. Nottinghamshire Police Federation said the programme was "blinkered" and failed to show "the full picture". A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said the show offered "a unique insight" and Channel 4 producers said it portrayed officers in a positive light. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile/uk-england-nottinghamshire-16672409 Nope, was not uncomfortable viewing, I disagree with that comment. If the public don`t criticise the Police the Police criticise the P…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2090382/Prescott-73-considers-frontline-return---elected-police-chief.html I hope this is just a joke. I hope that Fat Slob doesn't even consider applying, he was totally useless as a Minister and he should never be given the chance to apply for the job. I don't minde if he applies for a job to serve wine to officers in the force canteens, he could probably do that without getting it wrong.
