Policing minister reveals across the board cash drop in forces of 1.6 per cent.Police forces in England and Wales will each receive a 1.6 per cent drop in central government funding in 2013/14, the policing minister Damian Green announced yesterday (December 19). The government has decided to apply “damping” to each pot of money a force receives in the next financial year, keeping the reduction in cash terms at 1.6 per cent. The government said it decided to continue the use of damping because many PCCs and forces had made financial plans with this in mind. The method has proved controversial in some forces however, because where the police funding formula determines a…

Officers should be kept distinct from other uniformed individuals on the streets, says Fed chairman.Concern is mounting that the public are failing to distinguish between fully warranted officers and other uniformed officials – including PCSOs and council workers. Police Federation of England and Wales Chairman Paul McKeever said similarities in attire is leading to confusion – and is an issue for forces across the country. Mr McKeever was speaking after Ian Johnston, Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, called for the force to undertake a review of police uniforms next year after being told by the public they could not recognise officers and would sometimes mistake…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2246692/Killjoy-PC-halts-pre-school-nativity-play-order-parents-cars.html - I know the Maul has probably exaggerated this a little, but I agree with the PC. People should not park on pavements or block off parking areas. I think I would have left the cars where they were and stuck a FPN on each one, rather than interrupt the nativity play. That would have been a nice Christmas Present for them when they came out. Parking on the pavement causes problems for the blind, and people with prams and pushchairs who are unable to pass by and have to walk on the road.

http://www.telegraph...er-state.html - if Cameron gives away much more to the EU we might as well get rid of our House of Commons and Lords, because they will not have any say in what we can do. Our taxes will be set by the EU and our spending power will be dictated by the EU. Will will be in the same classification as Somalia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone and a few other third rate nations. At least we might save a few thousand pounds with no MP's, so fiddling expences will not exist. So much for Cameron and his, ''I will sort out the EU and the Human Rights problems'', no you won't Dave, you will just cave-in to Brussels as you always do.

Walk On By: Citizen's Arrests 'Down By Half'The figures show a drop in citizen's arrests as a survey finds a majority would "walk on by" if they saw anti-social behaviour. A report calls for citizen police academies to help the public fight crime. The number of citizen’s arrests in the Metropolitan Police area has almost halved over two years, a think-tank has reported A survey for Policy Exchange found a majority of Britons – 67% - would not act if they saw a group of teenagers drinking and verbally abusing passers-by in the street. About 27% said they would intervene. A freedom of information request by Policy Exchange revealed citizen's arrests went dow…
