Good to see a hefty number of officers honoured, including three Special Constables. Sir Bernie now as well - not that it was unexpected... The below are all honours related to Policing that have been extracted from the lists available here: http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/resource-library/new-year-honours-2013

Taken from TheCustodySgt on Twitter. (@TheCustodySgt) 29/12/2012 05:58 The daily fail strikes again with the biggest pile of selfish claptrap I've seen in a while bit.ly/10r1o0q via @Timbo452 His "op ed" is titled 'Stranded on the M6' about the M6 crash on Christmas Day. Some of the comments leave me speechless but not surprised.

I thought David Cameron was going to be a lot more selective about who got Gongs this time around, but no, 1068 people got awards, mostly for just doing their jobs, and mainly Civil Servants. Bernard Hogan-How got a Knighthood for sucking up to Ms May. Cherie Blair an OBE for getting as many Freebies as possible inb twelve months. Kate Bush for Screeching. Tracy Emin for not making her bed. Margaret Beckett for being a complete failure as Minister for Ag and Fish. A few police officers for services to policing and the community. Didn't see many ACPO in the line up, perhaps they come later. I do apologise to Mrs Cherie, she got a CBE, not an OBE, she must have got…

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/police-taser-use-on-mentally-ill-slammed-8431150.html Police forces have been criticised by mental health charities after new figures revealed the use of Taser guns on people in mental distress. Im going to be doing my taser training later this year, probably, maybe, as soon as they can make their minds up. I do wonder if i am going be slammed by every single issue campaign group if i have to deploy my taser. I know the training we have is very good, but the fundamental issue stays the same. People dont like us tasering people who 'dont deserve it' and 'dont deserve it' seems to cover people who are like me or people who are li…

Dangerous driving legal risks could ruin lives and careers OFFICERS should be wary of risking ‘their lives and careers’ until they get better legal protection for ‘dangerous driving’ on police pursuits, West Yorkshire Police Federation said this week. There is no special consideration in current law for police officers in emergency situations – and their driving will be judged on the same standards as any ordinary motorist should a prosecution be brought. Chief officers and Police Federation of England and Wales officials are pressing for an amendment to the law around dangerous driving to reflect the position of officers conducting pursuits. Phil Abbiss, West Yorks…

An officer has sent a letter to locals after budget cuts left them unable to afford a new vehicle, the Sunday People has revealed. They have to catch buses, hitch a lift or walk to jobs. The plea came from police in Lancashire which has lost 10 per cent of its 6,000 workforce since 2009 and where 14 stations are due t…

'Naked rambler' back in cells The man dubbed the "naked rambler" has been arrested again - only hours after being freed from a court and pledging to continue his nude trek. Stephen Gough, 44, was admonished at Dingwall Sheriff Court, where he wore only a blue blanket tied round his waist. He had been found guilty of conducting himself in a disorderly manner and committing a breach of the peace when he was seen walking naked in woods near Tore in Ross-shire. Despite being warned that he faced a more serious sentence if he persisted with his naked walk from Land's End to John O'Groats, Gough was arrested on the Cromarty Bridge later on Friday afternoon. He is due to ap…
