They can set up an independent review straight away without consultation with its members .but ask them to arrange industrial rights ballot they drag their heals for 4 years. Why??? Because they didnt want one. Lets hope the review gets rid of the JCC and let's federations run independently for each force

Maybe im not on the mark with this one, but the headlines i have see on the BBC for quite a while seem to be worded as badly as possible to make the police seem awful. Then if you feel like reading the piece they dont correspond to the headline at all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-20691300 - my case in point The headline is Sarah Gosling murder: Police misspelling 'enabled killing'And from reading the piece the iPCC have looked into the matter and basically an officer recorded the address slightly wrong on a domestic violence couple with a very very long history and when other officers attended a report of shouting they didnt dig any further and left. …

Just to be clear to any viewing Professional Standards/Complaints and Discipline officers/staff - I am not criticising T/CC Geenty. No. Not at all. http://www.policeoracle.com/news/Police+Performance/2012/Dec/19/Officer-Backup-Compromised-Under-New-Model_59183.html The Fed say that it took 8 minutes to get assistance to a single-crewed officer who was fighting with an individual. She ended up with a broken nose, black eyes, etc.. I'm presuming that they have looked at the incident log and actually spoken to the officer concerned. T/CC Geenty is quoted as saying this in relation to that incident. “While there will always be cases where officers require immediate ass…

Short interview this morning on the BBC with David 'train tickets' Blunkett, Sir Hugh Orde, and John Humphrys. Basic contents - 1. Blunkett said that things with the police are never as bad as they appear and that all in the 'police world' was hunky dorey. . 2 Orde said very little, never mentioned the fact that police officers were taking pay cuts, working many years extra for their pensions, which were being reduced, and paying more for them. But did say that whatever was happening the police would continue to do their jobs. 3. John Humphrys said that the Police Federation were getting a bit above themselves and were acting like a seperate force …

Criminals could end up facing the cold hand of the law if plans to stop supplying gloves to police officers are approved. Despite freezing daytime temperatures and one of the coldest winters in years Essex Police decided now is the right time to discuss cutting the supply. A spokesman for Essex Police said: “An internal discussion was held recently about withdrawing gloves from police issue. “A decision has yet to be made.” If approved new officers will have to buy their own and no replacements will be issued for existing officers. Figures for how much gloves cost have not been revealed however some officers argued they are necessary for police on the beat and t…

Staff associations voice concern at dismantling of current police pay negotiating machinery.Police staff associations have been making representations about what form the successor body to the soon-to-be axed Police Negotiating Board should take. Senior officials have been engaging in a period of consultation with the government, which was originally scheduled to end today (December 21) but has been extended to January 14, to discuss the transition process to a new pay review body as well as its make up and processes. The abolition of the PNB follows a recommendation in the Winsor II pay and conditions review. The new body will consider submitted evidence over remunerat…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/9754136/May-to-crack-down-on-police-integrity-concerns.html - thats a laugh coming from an MP, accepting gifts and nepotism. There is more nepotism in the H of C with MP's employing wives, daughters, girlfriends, and in some cases boyfriends. MP's probably accept more gifts and freebies than all police officers added together, and don't forget all the crooks who stole expences when they were not entitled. Pot, kettle, black comes to mind.

New Police Service approach will free up officers to focus on what matters, says ACPO lead.A new police definition for what constitutes a missing person will save officers hours of “wasted time” and keep them focused when a genuine case arises, the ACPO portfolio lead has said. The association’s guidance on missing persons is set to be changed in spring 2013 to include a new category of ‘absent’. It means officers will not be sent to investigate a disappearance if a subsequent risk assessment establishes the person is simply not where they are “expected or required to be”. If a person’s disappearance is out of character, however, and they may be at risk of harm or subje…
