Theresa May said she was minded to press ahead with the radical overhaul proposed last year by civilian lawyer Tom Winsor and cut the starting salary for police constables by £4,000 to £19,000." Always nice to be minded to do things. Im minded to have less money to do my job helping people and trying to keep them safe. Its very motivational. "However, the Home Secretary said plans to bring in compulsory severance across all ranks …

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21011607 I can't say I agree with this, although it is unclear as to what training will be given to those that come straight in as Inspector. An Inspector in my opinion needs a good understanding of what is happening on the frontline and the best way to get that is to have the experience and worked up the ranks. Sir Hugh is absolutely right; you can't have people leading public order and firearms operations who have joined the force at Inspector straight out of training because they are basically just on their work experience and probation period.

Newly-elected police and crime commissioners have been accused of “cronyism”, following claims some had appointed friends as their deputies. Sixteen police and crime commissioners are now believed to have appointed their own friends, former colleagues and contacts as deputies on salaries up to £65,000. One is reported to be planning to hire 17 people to assist him at taxpayers’ expense, including four assistant commissioners. While the PCCs were elected by the public last month, the role of a deputy commissioner is not subject to a democratic vote and does not have to be advertised. It can therefore be filled by any individual appointed by the new commissioner. A pane…

This gives food for thought. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21035564 I am wondering how many drugs users, and dealers Tim Hollins has dealt with. And he is the lead for ACPO. It makes me believe, even more, that we really are being led by Donkey's. Addicts need treament but they are also criminals and should stay as such.

source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-20959704 Police officers have returned to a traditional collar-and-tie uniform as part of a trial scheme in Norfolk. The pilot, involving 47 officers in Wymondham, replaces the black zip-up polo shirts that were introduced in 2008 at an initial cost of £34m. Research suggests people regard police as "more professional" in a collar and tie, said a force spokesman. He added: "The shirt offers a return to the familiar look of the British bobby while maintaining officer comfort." Assistant Chief Constable Gareth Wilson said: "Norfolk Constabulary is one of the top performing forces in the country and we are proud of th…
