This is the dramatic moment three thugs opened fire on an unmarked police car as they hunted down rival gang members. Ricardo Miles, 21, Daniel Ikumelo, 23, and Adebola Alimi, 22, cycled through the streets of Hackney, east London, armed with a gun searching for enemies in a gangland feud. When an unmarked police car pulled up alongside the trio, Miles turned and fired the .45 revolver at the officers. Fortunately the bullet hit the ground in front of the vehicle. Miles then tried to fire again, but the weapon jammed and he pointed it threateningly at officers as they sped off. They abandoned their bikes and threw away the weapon before fleeing over a footbridge o…

Police using a taser during the attempted capture of Raoul Moat. Firing the devices at suspects' chests carries the risk of inducing a cardiac arrest. Photograph: Jamie Wiseman/Daily Mail/Rex British police have fired Tasers hundreds of times at suspects' chests despite explicit warnings from the weapon's manufacturer not to do so because of the dangers of causing a cardiac arrest, the Guardian can reveal. Following the death last Wednesday of a man in Manchester after police hit him with a Taser shot, figures obtained from 18 out of 45 UK forces show that out of a total of 884 Taser discharges since 2009 – the year when Taser International first started warning the we…

Whilst not condoning the actions of the officers, surely he always had the option to stop, instead he took off endangering the lives of everyone else on the road - I cannot see the justification for compensation being paid to the family of a thief who died in the course of breaking the law

It is with a lot of sadness that I have just read of the passing earlier today of Bert Trautman OBE, the former German paratrooper who having been a POW in Britain during WWII, signed for Manchester City in 1949. His greatest of many footballing feats was to play for the last 17 minutes of the 1956 Cup Final against Birmingham City with a broken neck. He was a great ambassador for football and his OBE was specifically given for his work to foster Anglo-German relations in the post-war period. I remember going to Lewis's store in Manchester and having my match programme signed by the team ............ I was at that final and remember the experience to this day. Of cour…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2320468/Dog-owners-forced-tie-pets-case-bite-burglar.html Dog owners could be forced to tie up pets in case they bite a burglar. Dog owners might have to tie up their pets to stop them attacking burglars, police have warned – amid growing controversy over a clampdown on dangerous animals. The Association of Chief Police Officers say planned amendments to the Dangerous Dogs Act could leave householders 'liable to prosecution' if their dog bites a burglar while they are out. Ministers want to close a loophole in the law that makes it difficult to prosecute dog attacks that take place on private property. The move – which…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/10184265/Police-accused-of-harassing-science-graduate-after-break-up-from-PC-boyfriend.html - Seems very strange that this female was BreathTested 70 times in 28 months, and 54 times in just one year. Seems to much of a coincidence to me, someone was out to 'get her', unless she is a known alcoholic which doesn't appear likely.
