http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10401269/Plebgate-Theresa-May-to-issue-sharp-rebuke-to-police-forces-resisting-handing-powers-to-watchdog.html - Lets hope that there is a great improvement in the IPCC's 'Tortoise' like approach to their investigations, one case is still on going after four years, and even simple cases take anything from 6 months to two years. The good news is that Glass is leaving at the end of the month, pity she doesn't take Owers with her, the woman has been in charge for over a year with no noticeable improvement to the department. At least if the IPCC take over all complaints people will not be able to turn round with the usual ''the p…

Pressure of budget cuts coupled with negative press is adversely impacting the service – but chief praises officers' strong motivation. The sweeping cuts to forces’ budgets along with constant negative headlines has left the Police Service “in an awful place”, according to a chief constable. Jon Murphy (pictured) of Merseyside Police said that the service was taking a battering from all angles over budgets and the need to match community policing demands with resources along with “daily” bad news stories in the press. Met Police considers privatisation of £500m services Scotland Yard could privatise services worth up to £500m per year as the force battles to maintain officer numbers in the face of 20% budget cuts. Services such as finance, human resources and healthcare in custody would be contracted out from 2014, coming into force in 2015. The Metropolitan Police said it planned to begin "market testing next year". Existing contracts for IT, facilities management and transport services could also be re-tendered, the force said. Businesses and internal police teams would compete for contracts. Cuddly toys London deputy mayor for policing and crime Stephen Greenhalgh said: "Co…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2502471/South-Yorkshire-Police-slammed-prioritising-burglary-car-crime-child-grooming.html - what a gigantic hypocrite is Shaun Wright, PCC to South Yorkshire Police. He was one of those in charge of the Childrens Department in Rotherham, and did nothing about Asian men prostituting young girls, and was severely criticised by the Inspectorate for the poor nquality of the department. Rotherham Council is to become the latest local authority to receive an improvement notice from the government due to serious concerns surrounding its children's services. Children's minister Dawn Primarolo has written to the counci…

Merseyside PC James Gordon killed in 1893 to be honoured The forgotten grave of a police officer killed on duty 120 years ago is to be marked with a headstone for the first time. PC James Gordon was attacked with iron bars as he tried to stop a gang of men breaking into a factory in St Helens, Merseyside, in 1893. His death was listed in police records but his grave left unmarked. Now his resting place has been tracked down and a specially engraved headstone will be erected. 'Duty well done' Brenda Neary, a former Merseyside police officer and volunteer at St Helens Cemetery, found the grave. The Police Roll of Honour Trust commissioned the headstone, which will be…
