Police officer appears in court after taking his baton and stab vest with him on a night out By Crawley News | Posted: August 28, 2014 AN off-duty police officer took his extendable baton out with him on a night out and brandished it at three strangers. A court heard last week that Daniel Bennett, of Kingswood Close, Broadfield, was also wearing his stab-proof vest at the time of the offence. The incident, on the evening of June 16, was captured on CCTV in Littlehaven Lane, Horsham. The 20-year-old officer, who has since left the Metropolitan Police, appeared last Wednesday at Crawley Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive we…

http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29105022 The number of constabularies in England and Wales should be cut to save money, a senior police leader has said. Police Superintendents' Association president Irene Curtis said there were "too many chief constables and too many police and crime commissioners". The 43-force structure wasted millions of pounds and had not been reformed for 40 years, she said. Policing minister Mike Penning said forced mergers would reduce the quality of neighbourhood policing. Ch Supt Curtis was speaking ahead of the association's annual conference in Warwickshire. The former firearms commanding officer said: "It is increasingly obvious that we do no…

I read that the firearms officer known as "E7" charged with murder has been granted JIC bail. Apparently he has a condition that he must seek psychiatric help and treatment. I wonder why the court imposed that condition - it might be hoped that this sort of treatment would have been made freely available to him. He is referred to as a "former" officer. Without commenting on the merits of the case against him does that mean the Fed will have abandoned him to his own devices? Whatever else happens this case must cause firearms officers to consider the wisdom of remaining in ticket. I expect the case will be in court as a trial sometime next year. Only two other fire…

Victims of crime are being "encouraged" to investigate offences themselves, an inspection of police forces in England and Wales has found. HM Inspectorate of Constabulary said criminal damage and car crime were "on the verge of being decriminalised" because forces had "almost given up". In some cases victims were asked to check for CCTV or fingerprints. The Association of Chief Police Officers said austerity meant forces had to set priorities. 'Material concern' The review also found that police community support officers were being used as "detectives" in some forces. The inspector who led the review, Roger Baker, said: "It's more a mindset, that we no longer deal …

Update on suspended Falmouth cop expected shortly An update on the future of suspended Falmouth police sergeant Gary Watts is expected shortly. It is eight months since the neighbourhood policeman was suspended from the force following an allegation of gross misconduct. The Packet has now learned that an update on the case is expected from “the New Year.” Although no further information is available at this time, it has prompted speculation that a decision could be announced soon. It was last May that Sergeant Watts was suspended from his post while an inquiry was carried out into the complaint, details of which have never been released. The force referred the matter…

Speech on police reform to Superintendents' Association conference. Thank you, Irene. It is a pleasure to be here at the supers’ conference again. May I first echo your words, Irene, about the national Police Memorial Day - it is an important and moving event and we should never forget the sacrifice and service of those killed in the line of duty. In 2010 – not long after the general election – I gave my first full address to this Association. I was clear then that a great many challenges and changes lay ahead. I was straight with you about the need for spending cuts, but I also promised changes that would improve the police for the better. That my programme of r…

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/jewish-mob-force-anti-zionist-jew-manchester-home-104123414.html#xkFQ8FJ It seems that there are some elements of Orthodox Jewry that want to copy the IS approach to life - "you are either with us or against us" with little room for considered thought about the right for people to dissent, The area in which this occurred is very Jewish, characterised by large family houses (and bloody awful / dangerous driving by residents - who seem to adopt the Moslem "inshallah" approach to keeping their eyes on the road). It is very sad that a group of people who have suffered intolerance over many years should act in such a way. Mind you, I thin…

Officer with 4,825 followers faced performance procedures sanction, but Devon and Cornwall Police regrets his decision to quit social media site. A police sergeant subjected to a disciplinary probe over his use of Twitter has quit the microblogging site after he was penalised by his force. Sgt Regie Butler, who joined Twitter in 2012 and has almost 5,000 followers, said Devon and Cornwall Police's Professional Standards Department had concluded that the matter did not amount to misconduct. Need to sign into Police oracle to see the rest, it`s free so why not! More here " They will argue I am bringing the force into disrepute."" IMO I think that DC Police have…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2746459/May-set-power-sack-scandal-hit-crime-tsars-radical-plans-rescue-tarnished-law-order-policy.html- The stupid woman(Ms May) should have thought of having the ability to sack PCC if they don't come up to the job, very poor legislation in the first place, and lack of thought. What is the point of the Policing Panel if they can only advise a PCC and not sack them.
