http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30886280 How does this fit with HMG's pledge to keep public sector pay rises to 1% for the next couple of years and will they turn round and veto it? Secondly this is quite a contrast to the Fed whose submission to the new police pay board was to justify a 1% rise as opposed to making the case for a higher rise. If UNISON can do it in the face of HMG policy why can't the Fed?

Police in Coventry are looking for a pair of shoplifters "straight out of Little Britain" after CCTV showed a woman seemingly getting out of her wheelchair to steal goods from a shop. West Midlands Police described the situation as looking like the Andy Pipkin sketch from the hit comedy show by David Walliams and Matt Lucas, involving a character who feigns disability. The CCTV, which was taken at a Marks and Spencer store at a service station on the A45 in Finham, shows a man pushing a woman around in a wheelchair. She is not alone as the man helping to push her around the store is captured loading the woman's bag with food. Police said the pair took £60 worth of pac…

One of Britain's largest police forces is to ditch the traditional bobbies' helmet. West Yorkshire Police, which has 5,000 officers, will abandon the tall helmet which has been an instantly-recognisable part of the policeman's uniform since it was adopted by the Metropolitan Police more than 150 years ago. The headgear - known as the "custodian" - is worn by West Yorkshire beat officers who will now be issued with peaked caps instead. Officers described the Victorian-style hat as "completely impracticable" for modern-day policing, and welcomed the force's announcement. Frontline officers equipped with the tall helmets find them cumbersome and often have to remove the …

Click Interesting. Alaska is sort of an outlier because it has a slightly larger population than DC which was probably not included since we don't have statehood( ). But I expected Germany to be higher on the list.
